I'm not sure those Eastwood movies are really westerns. They're really more like film noir in a way. Josey Wales and William Munny aren't "good guys". To me, a western is clear cut. You've got white hats and black hats. The setting is incidental. It just so happens that Americans are/were obsessed with the concept of the "Old West" and so many movies were made in that setting. Star Wars is a real western. It just happens to be set in space.

(Ok, Plus 'Tombstone', and Lee Marvin, and Lee Van Cleef flicks)

High Noon is up there with the best westerns ever made. I know its old but its worth a look if you get the chance.

I really like 3:15 from Yuma

This never gets old.

Favorite quotes: (CLICK! [of deadbolt]) Now, yous CAN'T leave.

and

Look at ME! I'M the one who did this to you! REMEMBER ME!

AWESOME!

Great scene, also one of my alltime favorites. Even to this day, when I close a door and lock it I often turn around to whoever is in the room and say "now yous can't leave"

So many great movie scenes, hard to think about which are the best, but one that I think deserves mention from a technical standpoint is the single camera scene from Goodfellas where Henry takes his future wife on a date to the club and they enter in from the back door and the camera follows them in one shot all the way through the bowels of the club to the their table at the front of the stage. Amazing technical achievement and gives off the feeling of dizziness and overwhelming which is exactly what the character (forgot her name) is feeling at that moment.

Just one of the many brilliantly filmed scenes in what I feel is the greatest movie ever made.

Great scene from a great (but largely unacknwoleged) guy's movie. However, the casting was spectacular. Look at the talent in that room. I saw it as a play at the Stepenwolf, which has great actors, and it wasn't nearly as powerful.

The "coffee is for closers" scene is pretty amazing, probably the best acting of Alec Baldwin's career.

If we're talking strictly quotable movies, I'd say Tombstone and The Big Lebowski are vying for 1 and 2.

dude, Rio Bravo is a great movie .Lots of action and great characters. It was so good they made it three times with different cast members. Only constant was Wayne and director Howard Hawks.

These are some of my favorites:
