"The Gambler" was the deeper movie. The Baltimore Bullett was more of a light comedy but I remember that quote like it was yesterday!

Synopsis of The Baltimore Bullet
James Coburn is "The Baltimore Bullet", a legendary pool player who's seen better days. Coburn "adopts" aspiring pool champ Bruce Boxleitner, teaching him practically everything he knows. As we know it must, the plot requires Coburn and Boxleitner to face each other in the climactic winner-take-all match. As much fun as Baltimore Bullet is, the film can't help but be dwarfed by the 1986 Hustler sequel The Color of Money. Ronee Blakely proves an appealing heroine, while several real-life pool greats (Willie Mosconi, Irving Crane, Steve Mizerak etc.) show up in cameo roles. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

This one is my favorite. Followed closely by Rounders and The Cincinnati Kid.

A couple of obscure gambling movies are Owning Mahoney with Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Hard Eight with Phillip Baker Hall.

Funny, I've never considered Diggstown a gambling movie but that's exactly what it is.

Time to revise the list.

There's two things we never joke about here in Diggstown, Mr. Peeps- our boxing and our betting.

I will say Two For the Money with Matthew Mccounaghy and Al Pacino.

I know it may not have been liked, but it was gambling and Football.

I agree that Rounders is bouyed by a lot of Gen-X hype, but it did start the ongoing Texas Hold-Em Craze.

Shit, we played everything from 5 card stud, Baseball, Deuces Wild, Acey-deucey, to Kings and Littlemen at poker nights before this movie.

Now everyone plays Hold 'Em.

I find poker to be a mind-numbing activity. Hence my dislike for the film. That is all.

I don't really think of The Sting as a gambling movie. Top 5 confidence game/caper movie for sure.

Anyone see The Cooler with William H. Macy and Alec Baldwin? It may have been a made-for-TV movie. Sort of a rumination on the whole luck v. kharma thing.

No it was in the theater. Maria Bello was easy on the eyes.

The whole movie was based around gambling. They stole the number runners money at the beginning, they set up the con during a game of poker and the con they run is based on betting on horses. Every moment of the movie hinges on gambling.
