Since Regis Philibin retired as host of the syndicated celebrity gabfest "Live!" a year ago, some 60 different guest co-hosts have sat in with Kelly Ripa weekday mornings @ 9A on WGN's CW9 locally. For the last few weeks, there were indications that "Saturday Night Live" head writer & "Weekend Update" anchor Seth Meyers was the rumored frontrunner for the gig. Why am I posting the following here? Because we won't have to wait until September 4th for Kelly to announce her new co-host, and it's one that has a sports angle.

Michael Strahan, who won a Super Bowl with the New York Giants in 2007, and had been one of the co-hosts of the "FOX NFL Sunday" pregame show alongside Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long & Jimmy Johnson since 2008, has reportedly landed the "Live!" job according to BroadcastingandCable.com. TMZ.com & ProFootballTalk.com.

Although an ABC Studios' spokesperson declined to comment about the multiple reports, it is believed that Strahan will commute from New York to co-host "Live!" during the week and out to Los Angeles to continue co-hosting "FOX NFL Sunday" for the upcoming football season. While "Live!" starts its new season September 4th, "FOX NFL Sunday" starts its 19th season September 9th. Hard to believe...

Strahan sucks. I don't want to hear about football from him, let alone a fucking talkshow.

Yeah, Tiki Barber on NBC News' "Today Show", not to mention NBC Sports' "Football Night in America"...Not so good.

All indications pointed at someone other than Michael Strahan landing this gig alongside Kelly Ripa. According to everything I read before I posted this thread yesterday, "Saturday Night Live's" Seth Meyers, not Strahan, was the perceived frontrunner for the job. However, there were strings attached in Meyers' case. If Meyers had won this job, he would've had to cut back on his "SNL" duties, namely the sketch comedy show's head writer.

That being said, I'm not a Strahan fan either. He adds absolutely nothing to the "FOX NFL Sunday" pregame show and I don't like the way that goof talks. I don't know if it's going to work long term with Kelly, let alone constant commuting from New York to do "Live!" during the week and to do the "FOX NFL Sunday" pregame Sundays before the NFL games at the network's Los Angeles studios. The ONLY reasons why I posted it was the sports angle & that it was part of the news of the day.

Who is the black guy on ESPN that has glasses that remotely resembles Strahan?

It's not Scott. He's a sportswriter I think and he's thinner. He is sometimes a fill-in host on one of the ESPN daytime talk shows.

Sorry to disappoint. Jay Mariotti has his own issues, although he was supposed to start up a new ESPN Radio show in Los Angeles with Jalen Rose before he got into hot water involving his girlfriend. Mariotti's no longer with the all-sports network.

Quite frankly, this thread is taking a very racist turn.

Jay Mariotti got into hot water with Jalen Rose's girlfriend? Damn!

You'd think that would be all over the news.

No, no, no! Jay Mariotti was supposed to do a show with Jalen Rose on ESPN Radio Los Angeles. That has since been scrapped. Mariotti got into hot water himself off the air in a dispute with his girlfriend.

Well, I, for one, raise a glass and wish Micheal years of success with a show that I never have and never, ever will watch, as I have a job in addition to a television that receives programs with other content. Mazel Tov!

No he's a lesser known guy. He was usually on that show with the male and female host that would have 2 guest commentators sitting around the set.
