it's straight to video. it's far less agonizing than "the odd couple II" and "the sting 2", both of which were major hollywood releases that cost millions of dollars to make. this is hardly anything to get mad about.

a major studio release of a remake of "a christmas story" starring justin bieber and rob riggle as santa would be something to pitch forks over.

First, I think you're lying.

Second, it's ok. Not great but I'll catch it once per year. Christmas vacation and Elf are way better X-mas movies, IMO.

First, I'm not lying and my wife can attest to this. Her brother and her always watch A Christmas Story on Xmas eve after we have the in laws over and I usually wind up passing out as soon as they start the movie. Elf and Christmas Vacation were actually brought up during dinner tonight as in movies we have to watch soon.

"elf" is overrated because everyone seems to forget how awful, cliched, and corny the ending is.

"christmas vacation" is wonderful. for my generation it's nostalgic, but it's also the funniest "vacation" movie and probably the best work chevy chase ever did. it actually has a good heart while also being uproarious.

"you better watch out" aka "christmas evil" is required viewing for me every year. psychotic toy maker who becomes santa claus and keeps his own book of the kids that are naughty and nice? how can you go wrong? it's better than "silent night, deadly night".

Here's a tip: the entire next month and a half is a giant, living, breathing, cliche.

Oh c'mon, Paul Sheldon singing was great!

The best holiday movie is Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

Leathal Weapon is a close 2nd.

i'm not saying "elf" is bad...i'm saying it's overrated. i hated the ending...almost as much as i hated the ending of "scrooged" (what a cop out). but 2/3 of the movie's pretty good. and i still like quoting it.

"planes, trains, and automobiles", "dutch" = lonely thanksgiving movies. although i did actually enjoy "tower heist" even though it was pretty cliched itself.

i'm telling you, nothing gets you into the spirit of christmas more than a viewing of "christmas evil"...maybe "santa's slay". or "gremlins". that's another good one.
