Watched this takeoff of the reality craze. Kevin Hart is running this show and he brought along some funny guys with him. I'm going to DVR this one.

May I make a brief recommendation that you watch tonight’s second episode of Real Husbands of Hollywood? This new fake reality, semi-scripted, all-funny, feels-true show debuted to big ratings on BET last week. It deserved its large audience. Led by Kevin Hart, Real Husbands spoofs Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise while getting at some truth — namely, that this reality-TV genre is a ridiculous sham that only needed (a) a slight push to make the ridiculousness hilarious, and (b) it’s time men were made to look as foolish as women do on the Bravo shows.

Hart, along with co-stars JB Smoove, Boris Kodjoe, Nick Cannon, and Duane Martin (plus Robin Thicke!), are fearless about appearing selfish, lazy, jealous, back-biting, sarcastic, and… loyal, smart, and sensitive. The key concept is that these men are, for the most part, supported by or led along by the more- or equally successful women in their lives. How they cope with this situation — mostly by great shows of macho bragging, putting each other down, proclaiming their primacy even as they prove otherwise — is in a great TV-husband tradition stretching all the way back to Jackie Gleason in The Honeymooners.

To say much more would spoil the pleasure that awaits you with this surprising, smart show. Check it out (10 p.m. ET) and tell me what you think.

I've watched the first two episodes. Very funny. The faux Reality Show format works really well...
