I just found out The Corner, which is the series from everyone involved with The Wire, is now on HBO On Demand. I've heard great things. I probably won't be able to watch it for a couple days, but I feel confidant promoting it.

In retrospect, that was the perfect prologue to "The Wire".

Many a disturbingly real scene....shocking many got past the censors.

Much like The Wire, it was a critical darling that viewers largely ignored.

Wow. That was a pretty compelling first hour. I'm pretty sure I'll finish the series this week.

I plan on looking into this. I got through about half of the first season of The Wire and liked it but
never finished it. Thanks for mentioning this.

Glad someone else is getting this show some tracktion. I tried and failed in the Wire thread. Absolutely awesome, compelling and gut wrenching. Khandi Alexander is incredible.

When you have seen all of the episodes, here are a couple of nice pieces on some of your protagonists. There are other links you can pull regarding Wire characters and whatnot.

I read alot of that last night when I was Googling the background after the first episode. Very heartbreaking stuff. Especially to hear what happened to DeAndre.

Thankfully I didn't see it prior to finishing all 6 episodes. Somehow not knowing everything kept me more compelled, but either way its really good stuff. There is an informal interview at the very end from "THE Corner" which was both gave a person no real insight, and all you needed to know about the characters. Kind of hard to watch when many protagonists fit too closely to reality.

Definitely a good show. I had watched The Wire first so it was weird seeing tons of Wire actors in The Corner too (daniels, mrs daniels, prop joe, Lester Freamon, etc). Not as weird as Stringer Bell and Beadie on the Office but still pretty cool

I'll again recommend both "The Corner" and "Homicide," which are the two books all this stuff are based on. Simon got unprecedented access in each case.

Finished the first 3 episodes and it has me pulled in pretty good. I was always a fan of Charles S. Dutton
and think he does a good job directing and acting as documentarian. Nice to see familiar faces from the
Treme series. I need to find a good way to watch The Wire as I know I would enjoy the series but don't
have Net Flix and don't want to buy it. I have tried to find it to rent and no one has all the seasons. I
have seen HBO having chunks on demand but I want to start over from episode one.

Finished this miniseries. Simply outstanding. Love that they got some of the real people at the end to talk for a few minutes. I want to check out the book. It seems David Simon can do no wrong.

Edit: Also loved how they brought up the war on drugs and how it perpetuates, if not outright creates, a lot of the problems in these neighborhoods.

I finished it last night and I really enjoyed it. Good acting and interesting story if for no other reason than the
fact that it was all based on a true story. Seeing the actual characters at the end was a nice way to wrap it up.
What a tough existence. I wish HBO would do more storytelling like this. Just 6-8 episode arcs that tell a
good story on various topics. They pour so much money into their premiere shows, which I like, but I really
think they could fill in the gaps with more shows like this.

If you subscribe to HBO you can watch things on HBO GO on your computer, tablet, or phone.

They pretty much have every episode of every show they have ever shown on there.

I'll have to look into that. I don't have a steady internet signal at my place. I grab a connection from a neighbor
when I can but don't have my own. I suppose I could go to the library or a coffee house and watch there but I
am not sure I would bother. I wouldn't even try to view it on my phone.

Yeah, that would definitely be a problem.
