I loved the pictures of the hotel in Corvallis. It was also funny to see the stadium in which they played 1-2 round games. The tournament is completely different than what we grew up on

I hate to be the splash of cold water on this love fest, but I could not stand Coach Valvano, I could not listen to Jimmy V the (hypocritical) broadcaster, and I am sickened by ESPN's deification of St. Jimmy V of Raleigh.

While I like the idea of the nostalgic looks of tournament days long passed, I can't in good conscience watch anything in large part focusing on that guy.

I got through that w/o much name calling or swearing.

DePaul's last was the first where I watched every game. I hated Bird for 10 years aferward. I'm still wondering how in the hell Penn made that Final Four?!? And why oh why couldn't DePaul have gotten Penn...

I know where you are coming from with this and yes he was far from a patron saint. But, I did love his speech at the ESPY's and if it inspires one person with cancer or any other illness to continue the fight, then I can appreciate the guy some.

Despite the teachings of Dan Bernstein, I still share in the apparently sappy mentality that people can still draw inspiration in the feats/fights of others. I'm sure he gave one helluva speech, but I couldn't watch it then and won't watch it now. I certainly am not a grave dancer and don't wish ill upon anyone in my advancing age (except a select umpire here and there )

It was one thing for Valvano and his best buddy Vitale to not tread upon any issue closely relating to his past issues over the many rehab years he was on the network. The tendency for someone as self serving as any D1 coach as dirty as Valvano is understandable. Sad, but understandable. But, ESPN wouldn't have lost me as a fan if they didn't do such a complete whitewash job of Valvano's past while so piously roasting any player, coach or program they felt dirty(or not profitable to them), at least where it didn't negatively affect the Mouse party/money line.

I agree about Valvano. I laughed at the second round matchup against Tark not only because Sidney Green would soon be a Bull but because those two were essentially pimps. I have come to the realization though, that almost all these coaches are in the same boat as Valvano.
