Saw this. Decent sci-fi, but simply overused dystopia themes. You can't help watch this and not think District 9 (same producer, I believe). Was having a hard time buying the good guy in D9 as the bad guy in Elysium, but he wasn't horrible... he just needs better lines. D9 had a better tone and more interesting ending.

D9 was just weird but I don't remember the ending. I think D9 was made on a shoestring budget but looked like a more expensive movie.

It's difficult to cast that guy as the big, tough military guy when he doesn't look big or tough. The scene where he was BBQing on his roof had me thinking I could take that guy.

Jodie Foster was ridiculous. I have never seen her play a part so badly. It wasn't even a matter of her writing being bad, it was her interpretation of the role. Unnecessary accent and cartoonish gesturing.

The movie wasn't bad. I've seen the story told a dozen times before. This wasn't remarkably bad or good.
