WTF was that? That very well could have been the worst, most boring 2 hours of television I've ever seen.

Serious question:

Do you like a single show on TV? You seem to watch a lot, but your thoughts on every show you have posted about are always negative.

I've tried to get into this show. Watched all of Season 1 and half of Season 2. Just never got it.

Off the top of my head here are the shows I like...

Walking Dead (not as good as the comics but still good)
Shameless
Justified
Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
Survivor
30 Rock
Parks and Rec
Shark Tank
Archer
Dexter
Mad Men (till last night)

I'm about half way done with it. I liked it, some good lines. Don to his son:

Don:How old will I be when you're 40.

His son:You'll be dead.

Mad Men is a brilliantly written & acted show & Don Draper is a pretty accurate portrayal of businessmen in the 1960's. Who wouldn't want to be Don for at least 1 day? Then again, if I could drink Vodka & smoke Cigars in the office, that might be a bad thing long term.

I watched the season premier tonight & was not disappointed. This show in pure genius.
Those of you who are bored by Mad Men are probably just better off watching Mad Max, Terminator, or Dirty Harry.

Sterling to his wife during the singing scene

Sterling: Why dont you sing like that?

Jane: Why dont you look like that?

Also when Sterling was talking to Harry in his office

Sterling: I asked Jane to sing to me like that... She doesnt speak French. Doesn't like me.

   Sterling is one of the best characters on TV.

Apparently this has become a thing.

"Zou Bisou Bisou" released as a single following "Mad Men" premiere.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXoILGnHnvM

Listen to the song once & it is impossible to get it out of your head, more than "Its a Small World", but in a good way.

Well said Scorehead. Mad Men and Breaking Bad are leaps and bounds better than any other show.

Loved the scene at the beginning of the episode where Roger is just standing around trying to buy off a secretary to sit by his office.

Roger might just be my favorite character on TV. I know a few guys just like him.

Cheap shot at Romney by the liberal writers of tonight's episode. I'd say that's a legitimate beef.

Tonights episode was a little slow, but this Greenberg kid that they just hired should be fun.

I think it was Ginsburg but all dem Joo names sound alike.

Seriously Scorehead, what did you think about the overt political attack on Romney? I realize it's a period piece and Romney's dad was a governor. But there were 49 other governors Lindsay could have been meeting. The fact that Henry Francis called Romney a clown wasn't coincidental. I think the Romney campaign and Republicans in general have a right to be pissed. That's absolutely a political advertisement. Not to mention the fact that most Americans almost assuredly don't know who Romney's father was and using the Romney name there could only be confusing and distracting. It sure didn't serve the show. It was inserted for one reason only.

Yea, The Romney reference struck me as very odd & kind of out of place. I don't recall exactly what they were discussing when he was mentioned. I'll have to go back & watch that scene again. Having said that. its not like a Romney mention in a Mad Men episode is going to affect the campaign or anything.

Am I the only one who cant get "Ziu Bisou Bisou" out of my head from last weeks episode?

Last Sundays Mad Men episode was the best one yet. Absolutely brilliant writing, with lots of twists, turns, & emotion.

Me neither. Not knowing in advance that she had quit the show helped add to the drama.

I disagree about it being a good exit. Seemed rushed and contrived and now that we know she quit the show it makes sense why they had to do it that way.

Sunday's episode was crazy. One of the best in a while. In fact, the last 2 episodes have been great.

The last two episodes have been the best of the series. Either one of them easily beats the "Suitcase".

I never thought it seemed sudden that Peggy left. When they started SCDP, Don didn't recruit her, he said (paraphrasing), "Pack your bags, you are coming with me." Even though he has advanced his career above anyone, he never treated her like an elite nor an equal. Throwing the money at her about going to Paris was the last straw...or was it finding out Joan was getting a partnership (big gulp)?

I hope Elizabeth Moss isn't leaving. It could make for a great side story her rise in the business w/o Don. I believe tehre are 2 more seasons after this one.

Don's handling of Lane was a little rough to say the least. You would have thought that Don was Mr. Clean through-and-through. If he was dead set on getting Lane out of there, he could have given him 90 days to resign and leave w/ dignity. It would save the company embarrassment and a sudden upheaval if Lane resigned suddenly. We shall see how a partner's hanging himself in his office will play.

I'm not sure if anyone here is still watching Mad Men, but this show, the characters & the acting & writing are some of the best in the history of TV. Just fantastic. Sure its really just a soap opera, but I love this show. The most recent season started slow but finished with a few very strong episodes.
I realized that I started watching in season 2. so I watched all 13 episodes from season 1 the last 2 nights.
Unfortunately next season is the last for Mad Men. I cant imagine how this will end. Does Don confess to everyone & tell his life story? Does Don finally see the error of his ways & settle down & give up booze & Women? Does Don take his own life?

I'll really miss Mad Men & Breaking Bad after next season.

It's a great show. The end of the finale was tremendous.

Don's scene in the Hershey's pitch was great. It was hard to watch a guy have a breakdown like that. And I thought the final scene with the daughter was great as well with very little spoken.

This is one of my favorite shows along with Breaking Bad, GoT, Justified, and I've recently gotten through the first 2 seasons of Sons of Anarchy which have been very strong.

But, MM and BB are the best shows on TV right now with Justified almost there but not quite as consistently strong.

The Draper character is so complex, he makes Tony Soprano seem like a cartoon.

This is one of the most popular shows but I have yet to see a minute of it. Sounds like it is worth my
while to try a Season 1 marathon to see if I like it.

Completely agree.

I like how the men can rant and ravr all day long, but any time a woman starts to get worked up a man shouts "CALM DOWN!"

The show has a real slow-burn quality to it, T-Bone. It's amazing.

Yeah, the Draper character is great, although I thought the writing for him wasn't as strong through much of the season this year. I did love the finale, though. In my view, Justified eclipsed Mad Men in 2013. One show to check out is The Killing, which is the most unrelentingly bleak TV series I've ever encountered. It's very well-written and extremely well-acted. The teen-aged street characters are particularly well realized.

Is The Killing an ongoing story or does each season focus on a new murder or what?
