As someone who has to occasionally watch a chick flick as punishment for hours of football I am starting to notice just how many of these love stories revolve around the women being pretty terrible human beings or at least doing terrible things.

NOTE: Spoilers may be present.

Wanderlust: This is what got me thinking. We watched it this weekend. She immediately screws another guy as soon as she gives him permission to do it too. She also forces him to stay and continues to screw someone else after he leaves.
The Notebook: Probably the best example. She spends most of her life treating one of two men like garbage, and flip flops twice on it. Eventually, she cheats on the rich guy and then finally decides to stick with the initial guy after he builds her a house and sits around for years waiting for her.
Sweet Home Alabama: Sorry, I know we are getting married in about 10 minutes, but I still love the hick loser from my hometown.

I'll try and add more later. Any other movies come to mind?

No shit.

Katherine Heigl got blackballed from Hollywood for pointing this out.

Men are dumb and women are evil.

Jenny in Forrest Gump was pretty brutal. Kept leaving poor ol Forrest, then marries him as she's dying.

My Best Friend's Wedding: Literally, it's a movie about someone plotting to destroy a wedding, and then kissing a man on his wedding day, and then being a hero for not being successful in stealing him.

Another great example.

If Forrest were poor I doubt she marries him either.

Wedding Crashers: Meets guy while at wedding with her fiancee. Secretly starts spending time with him, while the fiancee is in the home, and is a hero for ditching him.

Making the fiancee (original boyfriend) a huge asshole is the flip side of this bullshit

Think of how many "bad guys" lost their gf's to some johnny come lately asshole

Nothing could top Rachel Weisz in The Shape of Things.

As a side note, Paul Rudd's greatest moment as an actor is when he says, "It was my grandmother's."

I prefer

Titanic: She is marrying someone for financial reasons only, and then cheats on that fiance, then fakes her identity and makes the fiance think she died.

(500) Days of Summer: She uses all her Zoey Deschanel charm to make the poor kid from outer space fall in love with her and then she dumps his ass. But she won't just leave him alone. She stalks his ass at a wedding and then invites him to her house for a party. Kind of reminds me of Krazy Ivan.

When I watched that movie I wasn't sure if I was too smart to like it or too dumb to understand it.

Go with too smart. I loathed that movie.

I tried to think of an example of the reverse and I only have one:
Sleepwalk with me

We watched it and as soon as he cheated, my wife got pissed and tuned out. THAT's why men aren't evil in movies.

I saw The Counselor this weekend. Cameron Diaz's character would fit this description

you can pretty much say "any female in a neil labute movie". especially anyone played by catherine keener.

george and jerry summed "titanic" up perfectly. "so that old woman, she's just a liar isn't she?" "and a bit of a tramp if you ask me."

Juno from "The Descent". Or Juno from "Juno". Fuck 'em both. like i'm supposed to believe she knows who dario arengto is but NOT herschel gordon lewis.
