Well summer is officially here when HBO often rolls out their one off series' that rarely have a chance of
sticking past one season but can be interesting at times. I don't have a whole lot of long term hope in
this one but I will give it a few hours of my time and see whether it is worth sticking out until the end.
Here is the review from the Sun-Times :

“THE LEFTOVERS” (9 p.m. Sunday, HBO): “Lost” co-creator Damon Lindelof returns to series television with this unsettling, atmospheric drama based on Tom Perrotta’s novel by the same name. Three years after 2 percent of the world’s population abruptly disappears in an event labeled the “Sudden Departure,” residents of a fictional New York town try to make sense of what happened and learn to live in the aftermath. Justin Theroux (“Wanderlust,” “Parks and Recreation”) ably anchors the series as a troubled police chief and father struggling to hold it together personally and professionally. An intriguing study in how regular Joes react to inexplicable events, the show demands a level of patience bound to result in its own “Sudden Departure” of at least some viewers. Rating: ★★★

Starts this coming Sunday.

I'd probably cheer if 2 percent disappeared and be pissed it wasn't more

It doesn't seem like it's really that though. At least not after one episode.

It was good but that's an emotional slog, right there.

It is interesting, though, so far. I plan to stick with it.

Yeah it is pretty depressing. Next week's episode looks great.

Yeah, I found it interesting enough to stick out a few more episodes. The cast is pretty good. Looking
at cuts from the entire season I have no real idea where this is going to lead, if anywhere.

The daughter is Andie MacDowell's kid.

I used to be a big fan.

Of Andie. Not the teenager.

Is that right? Well, after last night I'm a big fan of the daughter.

JORR's right though. It's not really a post apocalyptic show.

judging from the premise (from the novel) it is about a "rapture" using it like a device, or a motif or an idea...like "in the flesh" is a zombie show but it's not really about zombies. it's not "walking dead". i don't have time to give this a chance right now but the book seems interesting to read.

You could start by actually knowing what the show is about before commenting?

Guilty Remnant. It's a chain smoking cult in the show.

Do you want her to choke you, while you rub one out?

Age wise she is definitely in JORRS wheel house.

What was the point of that scene? What were they supposed to be doing? Just get naked and she chokes him?

I assume the rubbing it out portion wasn't part of it since he asked if she minded if he did it? I didn't understand what was going on in that scene, other than the obvious, nudity and masturbation.

What's that app they were using and is it available for Android?

Take into account what had happened with everyone disappearing.... The teens are in a very strange place.

Yeah, I guess. It was a tad more hedonistic than my old high school parties.

That was the first thing I thought.
