Starting in a couple weeks - just saw a commercial. I have high expectations for awesomeness.

Take a drink every time Jack screams -

THERE'S NO TIME!!!

Some seasons were great. Some sucked hard.

The hottest/coldest series that I ever remember.

But the highs were enough to keep me hooked. Also, it tended to be better when they had their own development schedule. Given that, I expect these 12 episodes to be awesome.

The way this show usually goes, my money's on this computer bad guy being dead at the end of this hour (and hopefully the annoying russian whore too)...and we find out the woman he was talking to on the phone isn't even the ultimate bad guy this season...gonna end up being someone on the inside (it always is)...my first hunch is the chief of staff.

how are they doing 24 hours in 12 episodes? obviously, 2 hours but does it rush/change things?

My understanding is they are only going to do 12 hours out of the day...so they won't be compressing two hours into each hour long episode...but the episode list I saw (which had at least 6 of them listed) all went in order without skipping any hours...so I don't know if that's actually how it's going to work.

^^^^^ She was quite gothed-out, wasn't she?

Solid start for my not-so-great expectations.

Kim Raver looks rode-hard-and-put-away-wet these days. Not caring for the fact they brought her character and daddy back from quite possibly the worst 24 season out of them all, though - the last 6-8 episodes of that season were excruciatingly bad.

"Daddy" is William Devane and it's a pleasure to see him on the screen again. He can do more with a few expression changes than most actors can do with a whole script. He is an excellent actor and this story is very current and interesting. It would be more believable if Jack was being chased by some young male superagent who never makes a mistake. The girl (from former NBC hit,Chuck)though is pleasant on the eyes.

Oh, no besmirching of Bill Devane - he is a great actor, but the whole Jack/Audrey relationship story arc from season 6 was awful.

[SHARK]And Yvonne Strahovski can be seen in the last two seasons of Dexter, but if you haven't watched Dexter, that last season was horrifyingly bad.[/SHARK]

I love how Jack didn't even say a word for the first 40 minutes of the episode.

William Devane is very underrated. Kelly Leak's dad!

I think the black guy is Chris from The Wire. He looks weird with his short hair.

Catelyn Stark is the English lady on the phone.

We did get a "Damnit!" from Jack and he told someone to put there hands where he could see them. But he didn't set up a perimeter and no one "ran point" on anything.

I just like that for the last 4 years, Jack has still been honing his ass kicking skills and monitoring terrorists in his free time.

Just caught last week's episode this morning. Holy shit, Catelyn Stark is fucking people up. Had her daughter's finger chopped off like it was no big deal. Shit's going down.

They really seem to be taking advantage of the one major difference this year, which is to say they're only doing 12 episodes, so there seems to be very little "filler" and mostly plot-progression and action which is pretty nifty.

I'm amazed that Mary Lynn Rajskub got work after Mr. Show, where she was easily the worst performer on the show and was only there because David Cross was fucking her.

Indeed. The show doesn't slow down much.

How many episodes are left? I haven't been keeping track...

Well, it started on 5.5.14 (=24), so that's 5, 12, 19, 26 ... 4 down, 8 remaining.

Something that bugged the shit out of me about the episode last night was (a) when Prime Minister Stephen Fry came over to visit with the Prez, he apparently came alone because I never saw one person - guard, advisor, intern - with him - nobody, (b), this whole CIA operation was a huge surprise to him (in his own country), leading to point (c) since when does the CIA have jurisdiction to run whatever kind of operation in a foreign country - which is to say this isn't, like, Borneo or Pago-Pago they're in, it's fucking Great Britain, a real country, and they can just go raid a joint without even calling someone and saying "hi, we gotta go check someone before they wreck someone", let alone ask with a please and thank you.

They were very mindful of not being around when the coppers (bobbies?) Show up, so I'm guessing what they are doing isn't an above the board type of deal. Top secret shit, yo...

Except they invited the PM over to watch, like it was some soccer friendly, so not a real good secret.

Tonight's episode was very exciting. The show was always very good on building suspense. Some really jaw dropping scenes.

Glad Jack's back!

Using the Brits' distrust as a quick plot device seemed really hacky from a writing standpoint; distracting to an otherwise excellent episode yet again.

I hope the person on the other end of the line is someone from the past rather than a new person. Hell, I hope it's Tony! Wouldn't make any sense, but why not.

The series will end with Jack and Terri in bed doing the end of Newhart.

It would take the worst turn in tv history for this not to be the best season ever.

So am I a sucker for even momentarily envisioning Jack and Kate and Yasmine each making the other two whole again as a family at the end of all of this? I mean, an upbeat ending for this show?
