For the most part, this thing is a flaming pile of garbage. I only sat there for the whole three hours because otherwise, I wouldn't have had a ride home.

I read the review because I wanted to see it. I saw the run time of like 2:50 and said no thanks.
So it was long AND sucked, too? Bad combo.

----------- With Spoilers ---------------

My first problem, I felt no emotion by the ending scene. The reunion could have made for a great scene, but it was a brief three minutes. If humans were able to make the wormhole and have colonized Saturn, it seems pretty reasonable that they would also then save Anne Hathaway's character. If you are going to do the big emotional scene, do it right. That said, with the length of the movie, I was just tired at that point and probably still wouldn't have given a shit.

As a parent, I did enjoy the reflection of the underlying themes on the parent and child relationship. I just could have used about ten minutes less of the thirty or so minutes that McConaughey spends crying.

The space scenes are mostly phenomenal to see, but are too drawn out. I wanted to scream, "JUST ATTACH THE FUCKING SHIP ALREADY! NO ONE CARES YOU ARE GOING TO CRYO SLEEP!"

Matt Damon gets blown out an airhole into the darkness of space and killed. And really, any movie Damon is in, he should get blasted into the far reaches of space and killed.

well, that would make for shorter Bourne movies...

Oh, and according to this movie, in the future, there is only one black person. He is apparently researching black holes. He gets left behind on the ship for the first mission to a planet, having to wait 23 years for the ship's return. On the next planet, he gets blown up by Matt Damon and then there are no more black people.

The NBA in the future must really suck.

Saw it on 70MM IMAX in Lincolnshire. Got there 30 minutes before showtime and the theatre was already half full. No previews or pre-movie filler. IMAX logo then straight to Paramount title board at the time on the ticket. What a concept!

So yeah, the first part of the film you are waiting for the space movie to actually, ya know, BTW, be in space. Standard character development, the breadcrumbs of magnetic anomalies and "a ghost" lead us to the secret NASA facility where Cooper(McConaughey) is promptly tazed by a large robot that looks like a stainless steel refrigerator on steroids.

They explain everything very rushed like this isn't a three hour movie. Finally a crew of four goes into a wormhole that magically appeared down the road from Saturn. Into the wormhole was a trip in the IMAX with the oversized screen loud score, yes it got too loud during some scenes. Black guy didn't die first!! He died second after happening upon, Matt Damon??

There are twists and turns and it gets all science fiction-y, in wait for it, a science fiction movie. Yes things got kinda weird and unexplainable, but they ran out of time in a three hour movie. Maybe the directors cut will be five hours.

I did throw my mostly empty bag of popcorn in the air when Matt Damon met his untimely demise. Knew it was coming and was still startled by the sound and reaction. My girlfriend was getting a great laugh when it happened and most of the ride home. Lulz indeed.

Didn't expect funny robots or three hours to go by that quickly. A good movie that was well worth the 12.50, and hearing the projector running during the quiet scenes was an added bonus.

Yeah, the scene with Damon getting blown into space was great. I jumped too.

Amen.

I cannot believe a science-fiction movie is not based entirely in fact.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie...the almost three hour running time seemed to go back in minutes...the presentation was superb...and those fucking robots were hilarious...

...but then, driving home, I thought about it...and it hit me...

<spoilers>

Cooper finds NASA because "someone" gave him the coordinates. NASA sends people into a wormhole "something" created for them to find new worlds. Turns out that "someone" is future Cooper and "something" is future humanity, trying to save humanity in the past/present time.

So...pray tell...how the hell did future humanity get to the future in the first place if it were doomed by some "blight" that will starve and then suffocate them?

space porn. it's space porn with some of the usual suspects of nolan people (anne hathaway, michael caine, etc) and it tries to keep itself split with a dichotomy of earthbound human drama and far flung stuff out in outer space..... but then again, really, in teh end it's about either WAHHHHHHHH-style epic music and glorious shots of space porn or of course total silence and that type of space porn that gets you pondering the infinite majesty of the cosmos.

did i mention it's space porn?

oh and i don't wanna come off as too much of a pederast but that mackenzie foy has a really good chance of being pretty damn hot in ~10yrs. they dont fuck around when they're casting bella and edward's daughter in twilight.... but seeing here here it's like holy shit give me a call in 10-15yrs girl. i'll be even older and creepier and of course 500% smoother then.

but yeah otherwise.... man. i think that bit with anne hatheway talking about love transcending time and space and dimensions and stuff was as close as we'll get to "IF I PULLED THAT MASK OFF WOULD YOU DIE?" --- "IT WOULD BE EXTREMELY PAINFUL...." --- "YOU'RE A BIG GUY" ---- "FOR YOU!!!!" and of course "WAS GETTING CAUGHT PART OF YOUR PLAN?" --- "OF COURSE!" --- "SO WHAT'S THE NEXT PART OF YOUR PLAN?" ---- "CRASHING THIS PLANE...." * soldiers hit the plane walls * "WITH NO SURVIVORS!!!!!"

they'll expect one of us in the wreckage, brother!

did we start the fire?

THE FIRE RISES!

.....yeah i think that mickey mouse looking chick was as close as we got this time around. i'll hold out for the next movie.

Image

but yeah the guy who gave us that tried to give us an updated 2001. mm-hmm. space porn.

The first time I actually read one of these and I find this.

The proper authorities have been notified.
