Fascinating look at Firestone's involvement in Liberia since the early 1900s. Sociological analysis of American slaves who returned to Africa to essentially set up a plantation system similar to what they left. Great review of a coup that occurred in the not to distant past and its current implications.

I got home late last night and needed to wind down. I watched this and couldn't turn away, until my energy levels crashed.

I still don't quite know what to make of the the Liberia/Sierra Leone connections with former American slaves, corporate colonization, tribal warfare (originally against the descendants of US slaves) that descended into hell on earth. Some of which lead(?) to the region now being the home of the world's current Ebola crisis.

Tangentially related to your point: I enjoyed how quickly Firestone and Coca Cola officials dismissed the theory that the CIA had helped Charles Taylor break out of prison and hide for four years only to emerge with support and arms to wage a civil war. Meanwhile every single one of the other prisoners who escaped that day were found.
