I have not seen "Broadchurch" so I don't know what's gonna happen but I'm definitely intrigued. Not a big fan of the slow-mo being used so much but the mood and tone is right. Reminds me a little of "True Detective".

Funny seeing Tennant with an American accent but he pulls it off. I like that he has scenes with an Aussie putting on an English accent. Must drive him crazy.

probably not half as crazy as doctor #12 peter capaldi getting to use their natural scottish accent as doctor who. then again he can just tell himself he was "establishing the brand" with the "worldwide base" and doctor who is "british culture" and that he actually "did wanna go"

but yeah everyone and their mom seemed to love that broadchurch thing. i've never seen it but i might get around to it sometime. the whole chibnall thing kind of had me keeping my distance.

i'm back on the bandwagon for this show after it had a really slow start...it's still not what i'd call GREAT...nothing really introspective. but tennant seems to have grasped his character and the story keeps getting more and more interesting. it's well developed and paced rather well in the last few episodes, including last night's.

I binged on all 8 episodes of Broadchurch yesterday.
It did not end the way I thought it would.
I've read that Gracepoint veers away from the source material in the last few episodes.
Should be interesting. I'm all in.
That's all I'm gonna say.

I've read that, too. But I don't believe it. I don't see any way they change the resolution. It was just too good.

They've changed some details but nothing all that significant that I recall. Although I don't remember the detective's kid go missing in the other. So, that's something.

this show has really gotten good in the last few episodes...and tennant put his best performance in tonight's episode. you can just feel the guy's squeezed heart and it's nail-biting getting to the conclusion. the slow mo is a bit useless...kinda there for style and nothing else. but the performances are extremely strong.

i don't think he did it...but man that priest is such an uncomfortable character.

I haven't watched it yet tonight, just wanted to mention Broadchurch is coming to Netflix in the next week or so, maybe 12/14.

I enjoy this show with Gunn and Tennant pulling solid acting jobs. I seriously have no idea who killed Danny; favorite new show of the year. Thanks for the Broadchurch update Shirtless, missed it when it was on.

No spoilers - but if they change this ending I'm going to be pissed. It would make no sense other than to change it just for change's sake.

Everything is setup perfectly. This is really an almost shot-for-shot retelling. Any change would make no sense.

Can't wait to see what everyone thinks of the finish.

Unnecessary changes for a bullshit cliffhanger.

I guess Americans just can't handle watching a grown man choke out a 12-year-old.

that was my feeling too...i am thinking this was a network decision because it seemed very forced and tacked on.

It sucked a good chunk of the horror of the situation out of it.

It was the father's uncontrollable lack of grip on his emotions that led to him choking the boy to death. It was horrible. And then the wife and everyone else had to deal with their lack of understanding who this man was.

Here, the guy just scared the kid because he's a creep. You don't get that look into his soul, really. And then he doesn't even kill the kid. Takes the sting out of the punch which is too bad.

My wife and I were watching it and she was really pretty into it. I was excited to see her reaction and then they pulled their punches.

Josh Hamilton was totally miscast as Joe.
Complete blank page.
He was great as Grover in Kicking and Screaming, though.

This is the same network that aired the gore-porn disasterpiece known as 'The Following'.

it has happened! i watched it happen, i saw it happen!

yeah it was just weak. but then, the whole american series seemed weak...like there was no backbone to it. it was watchable, and sometimes it was really intriguing. but there wasn't enough to it to really make it work. the performances were good though. especially virginia kull. she's got a future.

The Following was pretty, pretty, pretty graphic.
They also aired The Shield, and Sons of Anarchy.
Confusing why they took the easy way out on Gracepoint.

Is it odd that I'm totally attracted to Virginia Kull?
I think she's gorgeous, in a non-traditional way.

there's a difference between men killing each other gruesomely and boys being strangled, especially in these fragile days where everything is needled by the media and parent groups. i know those shows are violent but it's "adult violence" and this was dealing with a very touchy subject. i have a strong feeling they wanted to play it safe.
