Went to see this with the future wife on Wednesday night. I won't give you the whole W_Z down and dirty
on it. Probably isn't worth the effort. It was a movie that had a lot of potential. The acting was actually
very good and intense. Carrell, Ruffalo and Tatum actually did a good job but they played characters who
were not all that deep. At least that is how they played them. We left the theater scratching our heads
and after googling du Pont we wondered why they didn't put all the other weird stuff he had done in the
movie. Very good acting but story should have been stronger and it was just slow and drawn out.

8) 8) :eye: ( 2-1/2 of 4 )

To me it was one of the best films of the year. The contrast of legacies between Mark & Dave, which was a relationship built on love and trust, versus the very stingy, phony and dying legacy of the Du Ponts (frequently referenced in shots of old paintings and portraits of the family, culminating in John releasing the horses from the stable after his mother's death). It's a dwindling life for Du Pont, something that is totally inferior to what Mark and Dave had. And John is so consumed with wanting to win something and prove to be something worth more than just a name, that he tries to destroy their relationship when his own falls apart.

It's a very quiet, dark film, and it won't be remembered for anything other than Carrell's performance. But there is a lot to this movie that I think many missed...and hopefully in future generations, its attention is recaptured and properly regarded as a very good film.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Anytime a fake nose is put on a character, the movie has a "Dick Tracy" vibe to it.
