Great movie, even though I have gotten physically sick of Will Farrell. I realize people are going to be turned off by its blatant commentary on political and social views, but I found it a great opportunity to think after the movie. Isn't that what makes a great movie? Whether we agree with the statement its trying to make or not, there was a lot of substance.

I give it ten pies on a scale of 1-5.

I'll take the kids if they eat their green beans. Doubt I'll be seeing it.

I was underwhelmed. I wish filmmakers would stop trying to pacify the adults in the crowd and just make movies for kids.

I thought it was decent. I was a little slow near the end, but overall pretty good. B.

I thought the end was when it actually got more interesting. I thought it would be funnier but my kids really enjoyed it.

It was pretty good but had planned to enjoy it more based on the trailer. Worth watching though.

"Never place your rear end on a pirate's face"

It was the transition just before we go from Lego to reality...there was about 10 minutes there that I felt the movie came to a halt. With all the action for the first 70 minutes, I felt there was a lull as they transitioned to the feel good moral.

technically, I worked for Zell for 30 days. he bought a building, we managed and part of the deal was that I helped the transition team. Only saw him once.

Not going to disclose prices, but it would be like you buying a $1M house and putting down about $35K, just to cover expenses for the bank, title company etc and they give you the loan on your signature. Thats what you get for the 1%, leaves you plenty of time to work on other stuff.

I know when he bought the Chicago Title and trust building. THEY GAVE IT TO HIM, for 2 years with a Non recourse loan! Thats basically a "if you can make it work great, if not, dont worry about it." That one was public information, so feel free to say all you want.

So, was this house built out of Legos or did you post this in the wrong thread?

This.

Saw it Saturday, and I could not express what you said any better.

Also, no way Superman and Wonder Woman get taken hostage, while weak ass Batman is running free.

Okay. Superman wears freaking tights. Wonder Woman has the worst ever weapon. What the hell was it, a jump rope?

I thought the movies was completely geared towards kids; though, when Emmitt was supposedly killed, this little girl behind me started screaming at the top of her lungs because of it. I think a movie can accomplish both, I think this one did.

My kids got way more of it than I did and they are in the 10-14 range. They loved it.

In truth, I thought there would be more adult-style references than there were. I did love the cameos, though. Won't spoil them.

If you haven't seen it, I suppose I'll be spoiling it even more with this...

I wasn't sure the exact message they were trying to get across with Lord Business. In a way, it seemed they were implying that businesses should be ethical and treat us like their kids instead of trying to control us and everything we do. I didn't think it was too offensive, but maybe there was more to it than I realized. I was trying to understand if they were trying to get at class hierarchy between Lord Business, the master builders and the everyday working man, but it didn't really make sense as far as the master builders go.

The "messaginess" of the movie was comparable to the Muppets flick last year.

It was. If only the Muppets were remotely funny.

I don't know why people are trying to read deep messages into kids movies. It annoys the hell out of me. The basic message is that parents like to have things nice and orderly and kids want to be free to play. And then the dad realizes he should let his kid play with all the toys instead of trying to be so rigid. Stop trying to make more out of it than that. If you want to analyze a movie, there are plenty for you to go watch. You ruin the movie for yourself when you attempt to add meaning to it. The Lego Emmit moves in the real world -- what's the meaning of that??? Every single person I've talked to that didn't like the movie, didn't like it because they were trying to draw some parable out of it... it's not The Great Gatsby or Schindler's List... it's a movie with Lego people.

I think we reading more into it because the story contains an evil character with the name Lord Business who uses micro-managers, TV and music to control people. If they didn't want people to read into it, why choose Business as the name of the villain? Kids movie or not, most every story has some meaning to it.

It wasn't very subtle though...and it's also very true. So, I'm not really sure if there is an adult message. It's more of a hint of what kids can expect later in life.

There were three realities that overlapped. When the Lego piece moved it broke the 4th wall...and I was just like...meh, totally unnecessary. Why couldn't a cat have jumped on the table and knocked him to the floor?

When they showed the ghost lego for Freeman's character, I knew the "switch to reality" scene was coming. I agree with you that it was awkward, but more so in the moment and not after thinking about it afterwards.

I'm obviously reading much too deep, but the implication I felt was that the construction worker was a messiah-like figure, perhaps even symbolizing JC. If you wanted to go down that route, him moving on the table has a lot of symbolism considering he was supposed to have died after falling off the building.

Emmitt moving on the table makes it a "miracle" and no-longer reality based. There is no symbolism in that scene because prior to that happening the Lego pieces were never "alive" other than in the kids' imagination. Once Emmitt goes from being in the kids imagination to his own entity, that's when it crossed over.

As kids we are more willing to imagine and believe, but as adults, we tend to stop imagining and stop believing in miracles. Again, I know I am reading too much into it, but its kind of fun to let your mind wander a bit.

One thing I have noticed is that they are playing actual pop music on the commericals. But in the movie itself only "everything is awesome" is the music heard. I dont know if that is a licensing thing. Or if they wanted those tunes in the ads after the movie was done. Just something I noticed.

I loved the movie. I laughed my ass off almost the entire time. It did drag a bit at the end but I thought it was the funniest movie I have seen in quite some time. I dont care about deeper meanings, it made me laugh for an hour of my day. Good enough for me.
