Why are there almost none?

I threw out 200 Cigarettes in the office and surprisingly it was one of the only FIVE entries that come up when you google New Years Eve movies.


This seems odd.

It's a dumb holiday.

Seriously though with all the to do people make over new years and the parties, it seems a natural setting for a films. We should have at least one classic one (like Thanksgiving we have Planes Trains and Automobiles.)

I just read that Cameron Crowe is finishing up the script for a movie (working title: Stelmuze Oak) about two American ex-pats in Lithuania who meet cute on Arbor Day. Channing Tatum and Selena Gomez are attached.

get drunk, kiss at midnight and go home does not lend itself to an interesting story.

A major scene in About Last Night occurs on NYE. Can we call that a NYE movie?

Compared to other settings, its ripe with possibilities.

Hell, you could make a decent comedy on how dissappointing NYE usually is.


I still havent seen About Last Night. I gotta get that one. Many say it's Belushi's finest.

One of the great and proud claims to fame of my late friend, Steve Bliss, was that he was in one of the bar scenes, maybe at Kelly's.

I have to say, even though her character was a bitch, I really liked the young Elizabeth Perkins with the short curly hair and preppy sweaters.

Belushi should have won an Oscar for "About Last Night".
One of the funniest performances ever IMHO.

Also he was great that Bonnie Hunt movie about the heart transplant.
