This movie didn't work for me at all. Great cast, headed by Tom Hiddleston (Loki) but it was just poorly paced and not very engaging to me. The plot, while seemingly trying to be mysterious, was telegraphed and nothing was surprising. the atmosphere at times was chilling, and del toro is always a visual mastermind. but the ghosts were clearly CGI assembly line fodder, and the story just lacked a punch.

i was hoping for a nice little thriller in the theaters since so many modern horror films are the same, bland thing over and over again. this looked like it might be a nice refreshing change of pace. but in the end, it was aggravatingly dull.
