Pretty damn good. I like the actor playing Gordon.

I don't know anything about the comics or much of the origin stories of most of these characters so I can't speak to how "real" they are keeping it. But, I think the tone is pretty cool and Donal Logue is always very good.

I'm in on this show - which is good - because all my "go to" shows are starting to go by the wayside. I hope they can Dale Decker it and keep it up.

Watched it last night and I enjoyed it. I was never into the comics much but I do consider myself a huge fan of the Batman franchise. I really do hope it sticks around also. Penguin was a perfect casting roll imo.

Loved it. Loved the tone. The city looked awesome. McKenzie is a great Gordon. Even Jada's character was awesome.

Per your point though, they are doing a lot to stick to the comics... but definitely changing up some stuff. Jada's character is brand new, Ivy's backstory/name aren't the same, etc etc.

In case you've missed it, the big reveal is going to be the Joker. They obviously teased that comic as being the Joker, but I think that's a curveball. I think they are going to throw a dozen or so guys who "could" be the Joker and ultimately land on one. That transformation should be awesome.

I'll have to check it out, I wanted to watch it but I just assumed this was going to be another FOX pile of crap.

I definitely have my reservations about this show, mainly that it's on Fox, but the least of them is how far they deviate from the comics. If you follow any mainstream comics for a long enough period of time they will eventually deviate from their own continuity anyway. I just hope that they can establish a compelling story and avoid the trap of including too much fan service. We don't need every villain's origin to be tied into Bruce Wayne's childhood or Jim Gordon's early career.

I'm recording the entire season. I doubt I watch an episode over MNF so I will have to make appointments with myself to actually see it.

I DVR'd it. I watched the first 2 minutes and thought it was a great start. I'm sure the rest will be as good. I don't know about carrying the quality through a whole season though.

Really enjoyed the pilot. I thought Logue was fantastic as Harvey. I thought Heller, (showrunner) really nailed the atmosphere. I know Geoff Johns has worked closely with the production too so that may account for the quality. The Penguin looks as though he may be the breakout star here.

that's my thinking too. "batman: the animated series" was probably as good as any batman related tv show was going to get.

+1

I was surprised by the blood but definitely a high quality show.

Got around to watching the first episode yesterday. I am a Batman fan but only on a low level.
I never read the comics or anything but have seen all the movies, original tv show and some of
the cartoons. I liked the overall tone of it. They introduced a lot of characters that we would
likely get to know in the future should the show progress. I'm going to give it a few more
episodes before completely committing to it. Just something I watch when there is nothing
else on at this point but I thought it showed quite a bit of promise.

Havent seen it, but is this like a series to get 16 year olds into Batman? Starting them from Day 1?

Great show so far! Love the guy who plays Penguin. He's also on the Walking Dead, albeit we only saw him for one episode, but he's out there somewhere and I think he will be appearing this season.

Barb Gordon is HOT!

She was hot in The Killing Joke which was better than the Returns. Well at least as good. I have a first edition of both covered and wrapped somewhere just like Brodie.

Caught up on this completely. I'll keep watching but that last episode with the Balloonman was
just kinda meh.

Curious if you two watched yet. For me, it's not even the same ballpark as Smallville unless I'm missing what your criticisms of Smallville are. Not cheesy, or lovey... And most importantly, they are diving right in to the back stories instead of making us wait.

Just watched the last two episodes the last few days. Still keeping my interest but it isn't
spectacular or anything. I fell asleep watching the Goatman episode and missed the last 15
minutes. Can anyone tell me what happened at the end? I would rewatch it but when I pull
it off On Demand I can't fast forward and am forced to watch the commercials. I am not going
to do that just to catch the end. Just want to see if I missed something that will play out in
future episodes. Thanks in advance if anyone can give me a heads up.

edit -- Got a PM that filled me in.

Too bad. I thought it was the best part of the episode.

I think this show's been great. The ending of last episode was awesome.

Tbone, I suggest you watch it..maybe do something in the background and then pay attention when you get to the part you missed.

Yeah I thought about that. I could let the thing play while I take my dog for a walk or something and catch
the ending. The last thing I remember was Gordon getting arrested and then I shut my eyes for 25 minutes.

My wife and I watched all of the episodes of this show. Something that Batman people will catch: Venom (the drug that Viper will eventually become) is the drug that makes Bane, Bane.

My one minor complaint: too much Bruce Wayne.
My wife's nutty conspiracy: Alfred killed the Waynes. I don't agree because that makes the Bruce/Alfred dynamic rather weird.

I got sucked into this show last week.

For some reason every episode except the pilot is on demand. That kinda sucks.

But I watched ep 2 yesterday. Pretty good.

yes it was, I was glad that they denied the 'penguin is really the joker" theory that's been discussed. I hope the Joker never makes an appearance, but know too well that when they need the ratings or run out of ideas...
