Chet has done a great job filling in for Waddle and Silvy this week but he could've done a lot better with the John McDonough interview. It would've been the perfect time to ask him about Zambrano's contract status or if the Cubs can be active at the trading deadline. Instead, he asked stupid questions about The Police concert and his favorite memory of the Tuffy Rhodes era.

Come on Chet! You're better than this! I know you want to protect your relationships with the front office but that was pathetic! It was so obvious you were kissing up to McDonough. If you can't ask the tough questions, why have the guy on?!

Thumbs down!

I've given him thumbs down this whole week (at least while I've had the radio on). I will say that I don't recall hearing so much hockey talk on any of the local ESPN shows. I've enjoyed that at least.

Chet, put on the leather jacket and lace up the waterskis cause you've jumped the shark.

In case you thought that was a compliment allow me to clarify...

You suck.

Many that is true, but an incomplete statement.

By Chet. Hopefully you've proven to the ESPN hierarchy that you don't belong on the radio anymore.

I did not hear the interview, but are you serious ???? No questions about anything to do with Carlos Zambrano (or J.Jones too, ??).

I am probably guessing that Chet was told the interview topics wouldn't include these topics, but why have him on then ? What a waste of time.

No...actually he's not better than this. To steal a phrase from a bad Murph bit, Chet's interviews have always exemplified "Shmooooooze Patrol". From his grandiose introductions ("he's the best in the business") to his rhetorical lead-ins to softball questions ("We all know Carlos Zambrano and Micheal Barrett are class guys, right") Chet is a self-important blowhard. Throw Bruuuuuce into the mix and it is nauseating radio.

Chet is Chet... there's no changing him now.

My highlight was when he said Andy Summer had a blog - he had a 50/50 chance of pulling the trigger on the right band member that wasn't named Sting, and he swung and missed trying to go yard.

Then he followed that up by throwing a log on the fire and reminiscing about Jim Riggleman's fireside chat after Cubs games. ...when truth be told it was Trebelhorn.

Don't change Chet... we luv ya.
