Dietrich I do agree with you on that. I'm so sick of people saying how Salisbury sucked in the NFL. First, he made it to the NFL. Second, it doesn't matter for radio. It's a non issue.

He did suck in the NFL. Just because you make it to the NFL dosen't mean you can't suck there. The list of QBs in his draft class is pretty bad but they were all in the NFL. Hell the Bears had Quinn, Hutchinson, and Krenzel as their QBs you can't tell me they were good.

Dietrich being a fan of Salisbury, Berman, and Patrick I think you may be IkeSouth funny. I look forward to your posts.

Spaulding, if you have spent any time with professional athletes, collegiate athletes maybe you'd have more respect for the journey they went through to make it to the NFL. They MADE it. I never said Salisbury didn't suck in the NFL. But overall, I'm not going to say this guy sucks as a football player. That's an awfully harsh way to describe his athletic career. I just think its really stupid and, quite frankly juvenile of everyone who brings this up for a reason that Sean is no good on radio. You all know how much I think Salisbury is a jerk, a dick, and just awful on the radio so this isn't me protecting someone I like. I'd like to actual see valid criticisms for why he is no good on the radio. You lose me when you bash a pofessional athlete's career to throw in your arguement.

When making fun of his career, I don't think anyone uses it as another reason he sucks as a radio guy. It's just another reason to make fun of Salisbury, and Im all about making fun of him.

How is their journey really harder than anyone else's journey? An athelete's payoff to reach their goal is much higher. I understand the amount of people that don't make it, but so what? Many people fail at their careers,businesses, or have to change majors in college.

His football career and his radio career are seperate issues and in my opinion he was terrible at both. I don't think he can evaluate talent well or he does his everybody is great and my best friend schtick. Then he proceeds to tell everybody how he was right (even when he's wrong) and none of the rest of us know because we didn't play at the level he played. Fuck that. Do you have to get hit in the nuts with a hammer to know it would hurt? I've never played a down of football competively in my life but I know good and bad football when I see it.

You really think he had a good football career?

Yes, he was a good football player. Was he a good NFL player? No. Slightly beloew average. But he made it to the NFL. Spaulding, why are you downplaying the significance of making it to a league at the time that had only about 1,500 jobs in it. Not to mention the job he had as a QB only had 84 spots or left in the league. This is the most elite organization for his profession in the entire world and he maintained one of those jobs for a few years. I'm not saying he's Johnny Unitas, but compared to the many that fail all hoping to go to this one organization, he made it. This isn't like other businesses companies, etc. The NFL is the elite professional football organization and he got there. He was a good player in the CFL and has a Grey Cup Championship to his name. Go ahead and say he sucked in the NFL. I just think its ridiculous we have to hear this crap everytime we talk about his radio gig. You can't just squeak by to get in the NFL. You can't say because I know someone or my dad knows someone on the team that you get a job there. It's an amazing dedication these people have to put twowards being the best they can be everyday to just get to the league. I don't know. I'm obviously not going to change your mind. I guess in your world there are only 15 good quarterbacks in the entire world right now. I would say there are many, just maybe 15 QBs that are playing good in the NFL. Whatever. I give up. Everyone sucks

Ryan it's a valid argument--I hear what you're saying about segregating the criticisms. He's not good as a broadcaster. I mean, I've never heard a radio broadcaster stutter as much as he does.

There are, however, players who have made it to the NFL that probably didn't belong in the NFL. Bears fans are too aware of this.

But there is a place for back-ups, and he might have passed as a "decent" backup. I think he also suffered injuries throughout his career that limited his capabilities.

What you're saying is that: yeah, he sucks as a broadcaster. But what does that have to do with his NFL career? It's irrelevant and it's unfair.

He sucks enough as a broadcaster. You don't need to bring his NFL career to light.
