People from Pennsylvania prounounce the letter "L" as "W". Ditka and Marriotti are examples.

I always listen for it when Ditka speaks.

Another Ditka thing is "Wershington D.C."

People from down state Illinois say it that way too. I found that out in college when my roomate asked to borrow a "wersh cloth".
