When you think of the name Artie Lange, there are 2 things that immediately come to mind. One of them was being an original cast member on the defunct FOX sketch comedy show "MAD TV", which also introduced America to Frank Caliendo and his many, many impressions. The other was being a regular cast member on "The Howard Stern Show" for 9 years before leaving the New York-based "shock jock's" Sirius/XM Satellite Radio show last January due to a "medical emergency". Could the rotund funnyman soon add sports talk radio host to his resume?

Last week, Artie guest hosted a sports talk radio show with fellow funnyman Nick DiPaolo on FOX Sports Radio. While he seemed warm to the idea of returning to radio, Lange also told DiPaolo and listeners tuning in that he had been in Florida at a rehab facility trying to get sober. As much as Lange would be warm to the idea of returning to Stern's show, TMZ.com has revealed that Artie & Nick guest hosting a sports talk radio show last week on the Los Angeles-based sports talk radio network might only be the beginning.

TMZ says that the folks behind "The Dan Patrick Show" are putting the proposed new sports talk show together. Like Patrick's Milford, CT-based sports talk show, the new show would be broadcast nationally on DIRECTV's Audience Network, the former 101 Network. The proposed Lange/DiPaolo show would also air on FSR affiliates across America. It's unclear if Artie & Nick's new show would have a Chicago affiliate on the radio side. While there's no deal in place just yet, the two sides are hoping to start the proposed new sports talk show as soon as September. Lange & DiPaulo reportedly met with DIRECTV officials last night at Dan Tana's, a popular L.A.-based steakhouse, in regards to the proposed new deal. Stay tuned.

I'd rather listen to Artie Ziff on Sports.

Give me the same Artie Lang that was on the Joe Buck show and you have a show!

Create a show that is controversial and maybe everyone does not want to go on it, and maybe I would watch it.

Chica Trib Live, thats tough Journalism!

Artie Lange doesn't know very much about sports, apart from the Yankees and Giants. Even on those topics, his knowledge is limited.

I've said it before, I'll say it again ....

... Artie Lange couldn't be funny even if he were on fire and juggling Serbian midgets.
