Down in Atlanta for the week and decided to tune into Goff's station.

It was Kordell Stewart and some other guy. Brutal.

The question was "are you interested in the World Series and why/why not?"

One caller said he wasn't because he doesn't like all the foreigners, including Koreans and Mexicans. He said America is about baseball, apple pie, and Chevrolet.

The next caller said he doesn't like baseball because it rewards mediocrity. "Who set the benchmark for .300 being a good average?", he said, "if a quarterback only completed 30% of his passes or a basketball player only hit 30% of his shots, he would be run out of town." He wasn't even mocked for this.

To end the segment, Kordell Stewart referred to Mark Mcgwire as Jerry Maguire. When his co-host informed him Jerry Maguire was a movie, Kordell got very confused.

I'm not the biggest Goff fan, but he is ten times better than these clowns. And Bernstein would have a breakdown with these callers.

Those are the callers that Bernstein dreams about

Jerry Maguire, that's great.

I notice that there isn't any kind of transition that Goff does with them, nor does he talk about them much. I think he doesn't want to really be associated, in my opinion.

The foreign influx into baseball is great for the game. Many of these folks bring different playing styles. Free swinging Latins, gyro balls and funky wind-ups from Japan, Chapman throwing 103. Puig acting really excited about a hit.

I don't blame him. The other dude - Carl Dukes - was decent, but Stewart was awful. He also mentioned that baseball was "tainted" after steroids, but when his partner challenged him and said that other sports had the same issues, he said something about those being individual sports, like the olympics. He is like a younger Terry Boers without the wit or humor.

I don't know. I thought I read here that Jamie Dukes was on the same station as Goff. I've only heard him say dumb stuff on Mully & Hanley.

not suprising that Kordell lives in Atlanta

There are few good sports radio shows in Atlanta and these next 5 months are going to be brutal. Falcons are bad, Hawks are blah, Bulldog football has nothing to play for. Jason has a pretty good show, but some of his segments including "The Stupid Hour" force me to change the station. I prefer Jason to just about every other show, but would you really like listening to a transplant talk about mostly local sports all night?

I just wonder if he had stayed with WSCR if it would have been him paired with Spiegel. At least he would have had the night show.
