The Booyah Network is breaking the news that Danica Patrick is close to signing a deal with the Dale Earnhardt, Jr racing team and NASCAR.

Now, I'm not a big racing fan but seriously, why is this news? She's been racing Indy cars for 5 years and has ONE win. ONE! I guess being a mildly attractive female trumps talent in this case.

At least she's joining the one team where winning doesn't seem to be a prerequisite.

NASCAR needs sponsor $$ and eyeballs on the TV which translates to more sponsor $$. She brings both.

And I felt the tagline shot at Dale Jr. was unnecessary.

ESPN.com's Marty Smith says the Danica Patrick/JR Motorsports deal could be done within the next week. Danica will still race in the Indy Racing League in addition to be racing in the Nationwide Series, a cut below the Sprint Cup Series. Still, Danica is NOT ready for NASCAR, and she knows it. Ask other guys like Sam Hornish, Jr., Juan Pablo Montoya and Dario Franchitti, who is no longer in NASCAR, and they'll tell you NASCAR isn't as easy as it seems. Those three drivers alone have combined for as many as wins as Danica in the IRL, and that's 1.

Montoya does not belong on that list. Arguably, Montoya is one of the best drivers in the world. He has won the Indy 500 and been competitive in CART/IRL, Formula 1, and Nascar.

Danica? Who knows, I'm not sure someone that size has the physical strength necessary to wrestle stock cars for 3 hours.
