The View Host Elisabeth Hasselbeck apologized to ESPN personality Erin Andrews for hurtful remarks she made about the reporter and her wardrobe on the show Tuesday.
In Erin Andrews’ dance last week, she wore a sheer, nude top giving the appearance of just a few purple speckles to cover her upper lady parts and some sort of a purple looking feather duster for a skirt while her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy went shirtless.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck made a sarcastic remark about Erin Andrews’ clothing saying “In light of what happened and as a legal [matter] — and as inexcusable as it was for that horrific guy to go in and try to peep on her in her hotel room,” Hasselbeck said. “I mean, in some way if I’m him, I’m like, ‘Man! I just could’ve waited 12 weeks and seen this — a little bit less — without the prison time!’”
Erin Andrews told Access Hollywood she cried when heard the comments and called it ”a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators.”
“The thing that I was most upset about is I felt she was mocking a situation,” Erin Andrews said. “As a mother and a woman, I’m disappointed she went there.”
In slight defense of Elisabeth Hasselbeck, she is paid to give her opinions. After all, the show is called “The View.” Erin Andrews made a choice to appear on a dancing show that often requires contestants to wear sexually alluring costumes and therefore opens herself up to criticism given the nature of her job.
Was Elisabeth’s comment mean? Of course it was.
Is she allowed to have an opinion? Of course she is.
However, I imagine Elisabeth Hasselbeck will think to phrase her words in a much more sensitive manner in the future.
I put this in the National Media, but it could be in the Douchebag of the week I think too. For both of them, Erin Andrews, you can say your a victim and have everybody agree with you, but when you go on t.v. and dress some of the things she wears, I would say it hurts you.
On Elisabeth Hassleback, I think people would have agreed with some of what you said on Tuesday, maybe not on the stalker waiting 12 weeks, but to come on the show and apologize and cry about it, just because your kid may have asked why you were mean to somebody, a little much. Toughen up, I have not watched her on the view, but I can't think it's the first thing you have said something bad about somebody, I think she looks worse. I guess this is what happens when you want to be nice to everybody.
This is really just a matter of Elisabeth Hasselbeck shooting her mouth off as usual. My guess is that she is angling for a gig with her hero Sarah Palin on the Republican Propaganda Network, I mean Fox Snews when her View contract is up.
