I watched the 1st few series of the 49ers/Broncos. My initial impression is that the addition of Jaws is outstanding! FINALLY, someone who can breakdown the action on the field with intelligent and well thought out analysis. Jaws is as fluent as he was during the MNF Matchup show, breaking down tape. He knows his stuff.

Thumbs up, ESPN.

Seconded. I set my expectations very low and was duly impressed. Ron was in top form and the chemistry was excellent.

Did they still shove cross brand ABC and Disney product placement down the viewers throat repeatedly through the broadcast in inappropriate times? I could probably deal with watching it this year if the crew is good but the constant barrage of marketing all their properties is maddening.

Jaws is a stud. That's about all that needs to be said. The guy lives and breathes football, and he breaks down the game better than anyone. I'm looking forward to watching games that matter this season with him.

ESPN/ABC is bad with the cross promotion and product placement, but FOX is worse because it is accompanied by lasers, sounds, and robots.

Best line of the night was when Tony asked Jerry Rice if he wanted to try out for Jaws' arena league team...

i'm sure dr. ken will agree with me when i say that espn should throw erin andrews on the sidelines for some great eye candy. michelle tafoya looked awful last night.

or, throw uncle rico out there to give spaulding, HH, and Ryno's wife something, ahem, sexy to look at

Now if they could only get Uncle Rico to do the sideline reporting and ask if the players think he's hot.

Or if they need his help for their fantasy teams...

Shoot, I'd rather they bring back Eric Dickerson than hear or see Salisbury.

After watching last night's game I must say...

This was one of the WORST I've ever seen from a MNF crew.

By the middle of the 2nd quarter we've pretty much abandoned the play by play, choosing to put Rex or Peyton's big ugly mug on the big picture, game on the little picture.

I dunno about you guys, but i wanted to hear what backups were in. What they were doing. Who was blocking who, and who was making the plays.

They just bantered back and forth, and in the 4th quarter there was virtually ZERO play by play.

I know it's preseason, but DAMN, let's stick to calling the game. I need to see my backups and second stringers, cause I may need to remember them when injuries happen. These guys weren't even talking about the game.

EMBARRASSING!

Darkside my brother, you have hit the proverbial nail on the head. I was so pissed off that I turned off the game. I felt like I was listening to talk radio rather than watching a football game.

In other words, Excellent Post! Nice Point! (or did I mix that up???)

Agrred. Exhibition games are boring, esp. 2nd half, but come on! How many shots do we need of the talking heads in the booth? How many interviews? All that was missing was a Jim Belushi/Bill Murray interview.

Thumbs down

I fourth that motion, however, when the games start to matter I think it will be a very enjoyable crew. I always liked Tony, and Tirico is a good play by play guy. Adding Jaws in place of Theissman would is like Waddle and Silvy replacing S&R.... No matter what happens with him it will be an improvement
