Is it just me or are former Chicago Bear quarterbacks now analyzing games? Back in August, former Bear QB Erik Kramer worked on 3 of the 4 Bears-produced preseason games on FOX32 with PBP Sam Rosen & sideline reporter Lou Canellis. Now, channel surfing on a boring Saturday afternoon, I noticed two other former Bear QBs working college football on the ESPN family of networks. One of them was Kordell "Slash" Stewart, who had a brief cup of coffee as the Bears' starting QB after playing for many years in the late '90s with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Stewart has resurfaced with ESPNEWS as one of their studio analysts on "College Football Overdrive" Saturday afternoons during the college season. That's not all.

After Illinois finished off Michigan Saturday afternoon on ABC Sports, studio host John Saunders took the audience to bonus coverage of the Miami/Wake Forest game. Bob Wischiusen was the play-by-play voice, but the analyst was another former Bear quarterback. Believe it or not, it was Brian Griese, son of longtime ESPN/ABC analyst and NFL Hall-of-Famer Bob Griese. I wonder if this means we might soon see other ex-Bear QBs analyzing games on the countless ESPN family of networks in the next few years...

I'm not understaning why this is significant. The list of former NFL players that are now analysts for ESPN is extensive. Most analysts are former players, regardless of network. Griese, Stewart and Kramer all played for multiple NFL teams.

What am I missing here?

I thought I was in the "Twilight Zone" when I saw Kordell the other day on ESPNEWS and hearing Brian's voice in the 4th quarter of the Miami/Wake Forest game.
