There are a number of channels that broadcast college football Saturday afternoons during the fall. There's ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, ESPNU, the SEC on CBS, Notre Dame home games on NBC, plus VERSUS, DIRECTV 603, and of course, Comcast SportsNet carrying games from all across America. Starting in September, you might want to add FX to that list of channels carrying the college game.

According to Variety, FX will be airing as many as 13 games nationally from the Pac-12, Big 12 and Conference USA under the "FOX Sports on FX" label. The games will be produced by FOX Sports, and will air during the day and in primetime. "Sports programming is a key component that has been missing on FX for a while and we look forward to its return on our schedule," FX President John Landgraf told Variety.

For FX, the News Corp.-owned network has been out of the sports biz since 2006. The addition of college football to FX's lineup could actually provide a promotional platform for FX's critically-acclaimed original series and primetime feature films. These movies have been featured almost exclusively on both Saturdays & Sundays in recent years. You can find FX on DIRECTV 248 and in HD where available.
