Even though VERSUS becomes NBC Sports Network officially on January 2nd in the New Year, the network isn't waiting until January to launch 2 new shows starring a pair of rising "Peacock" stars.

Variety reports that Mike Florio, the man behind NBC Sports' ProFootballTalk.com, will launch a new hourlong video version of his popular football Web site Friday nights 5-6p (CT) during the NFL season starting next month. Florio will offer opinions & insights on players, teams, league-wide issues and previews of upcoming matchups on the untitled show.

That will be followed by another original new series hosted by CNBC's Sports Business Reporter Darren Rovell. The untitled new half-hour show will focus on the business side of sports, a subject near and dear to Rovell.

If that's not enough, the channel currently known as VERSUS, DIRECTV 603, is also planning a weeknight sports roundup show that NBC Sports Group Chairman Mark Lazarus said will give the network "daily relevance" after speaking last week to the Television Critics Association conference in Los Angeles.
