"You are looking live..." Those are the words Brent Musburger made famous nearly 4 decades ago when he hosted CBS Sports' "NFL Today" pregame show from the network's New York studio.

Some 22 years removed from his controversial firing by CBS Sports during the 1990 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four, Brent has become a fixture at ESPN/ABC. Since joining ESPN/ABC in May 1990, Brent has been on the call for quite a few major global sporting events such as the Indianapolis 500, the Little League World Series, the 1991 Pan Am Games & the 2006 FIFA World Cup to name a few. Now 73 years old, Musburger isn't getting any younger, but he's not going anywhere either.

USA Today's Michael Hiestand reports that Musburger has signed a 2-year extension with ESPN/ABC. Under terms of Brent's new deal, he, Kirk Herbstreit & sideline reporter Heather Cox will be on the call for ESPN-produced "Saturday Night Football" games airing primarily on ABC. Also, Brent, Kirk & Heather will be on the call for the final 2 BCS Championship Games on ESPN before college football's new playoff system is set to take effect in 2014. Brent will also continue to call a bulk of NCAA Basketball games on ESPN, primarily the Big 12 games as part of the network's "Big Monday" package with former Indiana & Texas Tech head coach Bob Knight joining Brent at courtside.

When Brent's new deal expires with ESPN/ABC, he'll be 75 years old.

SHARK, you're losing your fastball. You missed the HUGE Chicago connection. How are you going to get asses in the seats if you don't give the people an angle they can relate to?

Brent Musburger, a Montana native (the state in which our very own Franklin Coztansa attended trade school), first worked @ the now defunct Chicago American, where he made racist cracks @ a couple of black guys.

In 1968, Brent was hired by WBBM-AM then later WBBM Channel 2.

In 1980, Brent got into a fistfight w/ fellow black basher Jimmy "The Greek" Reardon, over who was going to dump the dead black hooker's body.

I know he worked in Chicago back in the day. The story had nothing to do with Brent's roots at CBS2 however. He might be losing his fastball himself. Brent's not getting any younger...
