When Roger Clemens takes the mound for the Sugar Land (TX) Skeeters this Saturday night, guess who will cover this guy like a blanket? That's right, folks. ESPN is planning what they're calling live, multiplatform coverage of Clemens' start Saturday night for the Skeeters as they host the Bridgeport (CT) Bluefish in an Atlantic League Minor League Baseball game. Yeah, get out the barf bags.

The game will be broadcast in its entirety on ESPN Classic, DIRECTV 614, with Longhorn Network's Kevin Dunn & former MLB pitcher Danny Graves providing the descriptions from Constellation Field starting @ 7P. However, "SportsCenter" on ESPNEWS will broadcast every half inning that Clemens actually pitches for the Skeeters. As they say in the trade, "...But wait, there's more..."

ESPN's family of networks will be showing live shots of the Skeeters' ballpark as Clemens prepares for his start. That includes a pregame interview with Clemens & in-game interviews with Skeeters' manager, ex-MLBer Gary Gaetti along with Skeeters' Special Advisor Tal Smith. If that's not enough, the 9P (CT) episode of ESPN's "Baseball Tonight" will have highlights and a postgame interview with Clemens, plus ESPN.com will have in-progress updates & highlights on its homepage, its MLB section & ESPNDallas.com, a replay on ESPN3 online and highlights anytime via ESPN On Demand.

Overkill? You betcha.

Bridgeport Bluefish?? Cubs fans might get treated to a Dan Serafini sighting....Greenberg is not on the roster this year. Shea Hillenbrand is as well.

There's definitely something creepy about watching old men play baseball.

Well, Suzyn Waldman, John Sterling's partner on the WCBS/Yankees Radio Network, won't be anywhere near Constellation Field let alone "George's Box", CTF, when Clemens does take the mound. This could be as bad as...choose one...ESPN's short-lived "Bonds on Bonds" fiasco or the infamous "Decision" starring new NBA Champion, the Heat's LeBron James.

I so wished Bonds on Bonds had worked. The self incrimination factor was so high...
