Al Michaels, Jim McKay, Chris Schenkel & Brent Musburger have a common bond since ABC Sports started broadcasting the Indianapolis 500 in 1965. All 4 of those sportscasters have hosted the network's flag-to-flag coverage from the famous Brickyard in Indianapolis every Memorial Day Weekend. Next month, ESPN/ABC adds a new name to the list and someone who is already very familiar with motorsports.

She is Lindsay Czarniak, who has been named as ESPN/ABC's new host of the Indianapolis 500 scheduled to race Sunday, May 26th. Czarniak, who currently co-anchors the 5P (CT) "SportsCenter" with John Anderson, will replace Musburger as prerace host for the Indy 500, a role Musburger had with the network since 2005. Needless to say, Czarniak was surprised to learn of her new role in an interview with USA Today Sports and dreamed of getting such an opportunity.

In ESPN/ABC's long association with the Indy 500, Czarniak will be the first female host in the network's long history of broadcasting the race. Czarniak will be joined on the ESPN/ABC broadcast by returning PBP voice Marty Reid, analysts Scott Goodyear & Eddie Cheever in the booth above the track, along with Dr. Jerry Punch, Jamie Little, Vince Welch & Rick DeBruhl on pit row Sunday, May 26th.

Czarniak joined ESPN/ABC in August 2011 after working as a pit reporter & prerace host of Turner/TNT Sports' coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series from 2007-2010. She should feel right at home hosting prerace coverage of the Indianapolis 500 on ABC next month. It'll be the "alphabet network's" 49th straight year broadcasting the IRL's signature race of the season.

When reached for comment regarding his replacement, Musberger remarked "with a cute pair of tits like hers, I know she'll do a great job."

  I thought he was talking about Katherine Webb, the former Miss Alabama & girlfriend of Alabama QB A.J. McCarron, not necessarily Lindsay Czarniak, during the BCS Championship Game.
