After losing Wimbledon, the College Football Playoff (formerly the Bowl Championship Series), MLB & various college conferences for football & basketball, but signing an extension to continue the NHL, NFL "Sunday Night Football" & Notre Dame Football for many years to come, NBC Sports Group has scored quite a coup for themselves.

NBC Sports Group has signed a 10 year contract to broadcast the second half of NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series & the Nationwide Series. Financial terms of the new deal weren't disclosed, but the new deal does mean two things. First, it will end a relationship with Turner Sports that dates back to the '80s when TBS carried the races as the Winston Cup Series. Second, it'll end the current relationship with ESPN & ABC, which had carried the final 3 months of the season since 2007.

What it does mean is that NBC & NBC Sports Network will be the exclusive broadcast partner for the final 20 Sprint Cup & 19 Nationwide Series races. Under the terms of the new deal, NBCSN will carry 13 of the NSCS races with NBC themselves carrying 7 of them, likely leading into the network's "Football Night in America" pregame show in advance of "NFL Sunday Night Football". While NBC themselves will also carry 4 NNS races, NBCSN will carry 15 of those races on their air.

A complete breakdown of the new deal and press release can be found here:

Couple weeks of Wimbledon compared to a half year of Nascar?

It's time. Don't you agree??

For the Pick 'Em thread or the Rant™?

Indy time!!!

Too bad there isn't an impromptu eldora truck race pick em for the top 30 in standings. If you aren't watching the coverage you are missing out. Practice was outstanding tonight. Tomorrow they are doing qualifying and then heat races and then the real race. Its going to be a thing.

Shark,

If your really serious about this media thing, and you want to get out of your parents basement, you can't be 10 hours late with the story. This broke this morning. KS scooped your ass. Wait...that didn't sound right. And where the heck are you when we're pontificating & wishing & hoping the Meatpants days at the Score are gone? Come on...where is your inside scoop?

SHARK can't be on this board like he used to. Sorry. Besides, there was nothing in this section about the new NASCAR/NBC deal until I arrived later in the evening.
