The defection of Rogers is certainly not a big loss in terms of quality or insight. However, in the big picture it appears to be another concession to the inevitable stripping of national content from a local perspective as the Trib further tightens its belt (ala Sam Smith). I'm sure they will replace him with a national guy from one of their other papers like they did with Sam Farmer on the NFL.
