If this strike/lockout goes into August and teams are given maybe a short 2 week prep time with 1 preseason game, you really have to give an edge to the teams that are basically in place from last year. The new teams, new players, new coaches, just wont have it together in that short of time and the teams that have it together will dominate.

So here is the Bears scenario

Packers 2 x 1 W 1 L
Lions 2 X 1 W 1 L
Vikes 2 W's
Falcons W
Panthers W
Seahawks W
Chiefs W
Chargers W - Terrible team without prep.
Saints L
Bucs L
Eagles W
Broncos W
Raiders W

Bears 12-4???

If the Vikings can get a competent QB I could see the Bears going 2-4 in the division.

The biggest concern I have is just how healthy the Bears were last year. It's doubtful that they have every key player available again.

Last March 1st Peppers was not a Chicago Bear (signed 3/5??).
So... if there's FA's and draft picks not yet determined... how can we make a solid prediction?

Sure I will play:

3-3 vs division
2-2 vs AFC West
2-2 vs NFC South (Unless CFSMB travels to NOLA; then it is 3-1  )
Eagles: L
Seattle: W

.500

Who else would they play if they go to a 18 game schedule? NY Giants and and STL Rams? If so they probably split those games too.

Under Bigfan's scenario the lockout will take them up to training camp preventing them from having a competent QB.

16-0 this year and every year!

Bears 7-5

Scab Bears 2-2

9-7

I don't really think they'd do that again, would they?

That's the point of this. Teams with new coaches, rookie QB's new QB's are at such a massive disadvantage.

Right now, teams would be giving out playbooks ! Yes, In March! OTA's in May would be a chance to run through some plays, QB's (Even Jay) work on these plays all offseason. Teams looking for NEW QB's are screwed. New coaches, no plan for the team.

Some of the teams can come out of this thing as a total mess in the event this goes to August.

The Bears have a solid roster, if they add some offensive line help, I think the team could surprise, but I do feel the Packers will be the team to beat for the next 2 to 4 years. The Packers are young, talented and have the best QB in the league.

Bears 11-5
