Forte is going to play regardless of his contract and the Bears offense will be better because of it.

No you're not because this

If they overpaid for Forte and did not sign a guy like Bush you would be the first one bitching if he got hurt that they had no back up plan. No matter what they do, you bitch.
is wrong.

He should be rewarded for what he has done and what I think he will produce. Why is that bad? What do you believe is his value? 14M?

ok cool, you never bitch about the Bears. What was I thinking?

It is not bad, just not a wise way of doing business. You do not pay for past production.

The Bears are doing the best thing for the team.

Again, I like Forte and I hope he continues to play for the Bears over the next few years, but I do not value him as one of the best RBs in the league and it does not matter what you or I place his value at. I am happy with the way the Bears are handling this and I hope they continue to not overpay for players where there is no need to overpay.

Sure I bitch but you can't tell me what I'm going to bitch about, like future bitch. That makes no sense.

Why would you not reward a good player to keep him happy. Do you not think he will continue to be as good? Did you think it was okay when they gave Url his extra money? Where do you value him is a fair question and I don't know why you won't answer it.

I have no problem rewarding a good player, but with the current structure the Bears do not have to reward Forte right now. So why should they? With the franchise tag he will get a pretty nice raise in pay. Again, there is no need to overpay for a player when there is no need to do so. That is bad business.

I value Forte for what he is a pretty good player, but not one that is irreplaceable and not one that needs to be overpaid for.

If they don't think he's going to be good now is the best time to trade him. Signing Bush may extend his career. Competition is good too.

What would have been a fair contract that he should have taken and the Bears should have offered?

The deal the Bears offered Forte of around 13-14 million was completely fair IMO and one that Forte may very well regret not signing.

Forte is simply not coming to grips with the fact that the market for 27 year old Franchise tagged RB's is just not what he thinks it is. How many team's offered him a deal knowing they would need to give up their 1st Round pick for him and then sign him to a monster contract? None. Why? If Forte is worth $25 million guaranteed, then surely someone would think he was a good enough player to warrant at least a late 1st Rounder, right? Bengals maybe? Jets? Patriots?

This is Fantasyland. Forte can either get $28 million over three years via Franchise tags with no guarantees and just one year extensions or he can take $35 million over 5 years with $15 million guaranteed. His choice.

Emery just told Forte in so many words, show up and sign your contract. The pen and paper are ready when you are. Don't show up and we'll be just fine without you.

I think you are confused. Teams can not offer Forte contracts, or put up their first round picks. That is the situation Mike Wallace is in, because he is a restricted free agent. Forte has been franchised.

I guess BD assumed his thought was so great that he needed to post it twice. It's wrong though. Starting with the fact that he's 26 and the it's not just 1 first round pick. We're talking about a running back that average over 1500 yards a season for his career and if it wasn't for that injury last season it would be more like 1700 yards a season average. That's an elite back. The Bears have the right to offer it but he would be a fool for taking less money than guys like Lynch and Williams.
