When the 49ers traded with the Cowboys to get the 18th pick. I have to imagine the 49ers were negotiating with both the Bears and Cowboys and the Bears overplayed their hand.

Kyle Long would have looked much more acceptable near the end of the 1st with an extra 3rd in your pocket.

That was the market. I think there were plenty of people looking to trade down. It struck me as a little light but hell, I guarantee you Long was going to be there

MR. ROSS: Firestorm, that's a hell of a picture.

GEORGE: Yeah.

MR. ROSS: Remember when they had the helicopter land on top of that car --

FRANK: Hey! Hey! Come on! Come on! I haven't seen it yet.

MR. ROSS: It doesn't have anything to do with the plot!

FRANK: Still! Still! I like to go in fresh!

Casey Urlacher is fresh. I wonder if the Bears can drag him away from public service.

GD. I'd like to buy you a good stiff drink today. Your killing it here with this pick, but I'm worried about your health

I'm fine. This is my thing. I am kind of despondent about my Chicago sports world for the near future.

As you should be.

To GD's point, if I am hiring a GM for any sports organization, I want them to be a great negotiator and "dealer." I want them to be able to work for value and make quick decisions in the spur of the moment. Emery seems too much like a guy who is too methodical in his approach. To me, he'd be a better assistant GM or head scout.

After listening to sports talk about last year's draft, and then about last night's pick, I completely agree with you. Long may or may not be a great player down the road, and who knows if he'll validate his high selection, but it's clear that you lost out on the value of pick last night.

I still think it's too early to cast judgment, but (insert Good Dolphin "burn down the franchise" solution here).

They may have a dope for GM but there will be a new dining hall addition at Halas Hall. All is fine.

Looking at the draft order for today I see the Lions and Vikings still have 5 picks each left and the Packers have 10 fucking picks left!! The Vikings get 3 first rd picks, trade 4 picks, and still have 5 left?!?!?! This is nuts. I know we traded away picks for Marshall but who else? I know its not the cream of the crop on day 3, but you have a lot more leeway to take flyers on guys in these rounds and hope something hits. Unlike at, oh I dunno, pick 20.
