Detroit Lions receiver Nate Burleson is out indefinitely, perhaps for the season, after suffering a broken arm early Tuesday morning in a car accident.
The Lions released a statement confirming that Burleson was "involved in a one-car accident overnight."
"Burleson suffered a broken arm and will undergo surgery today," the statement read. "Police confirm there was no alcohol involved.
“We will provide appropriate updates when more information on Burleson’s condition becomes available.”
The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on westbound I-696 in Farmington Hills, when Burleson got distracted while trying to reach for something in his car -- reportedly a slice of pizza falling off the seat -- and ran into the median wall, according to police. No ticket was issued.
