Bowman played OK. Steltz made a deal with the devil and so, will be on the Bears for another five years. Wright is a FA and gone. Conte just looks the part of a safety, until the whistle sounds. He will be back...25 yards

Mully and Hanley talked about this exact thing. Maybe that why you posted BF? Anyway, it was clear to most I think the Bears need new starters and these guys can stay at special teams and back up.

I dont even want them as Backups and I think that is what makes carroll and schneider different. They arent JUST HAPPY with a guy as a backup at special teams.

Telling me there wasnt a kid who played college ball who isnt a better tackler than Conte? Or Steltz?

Yes, Mull spurned it, but been on this for a long time.

goes back to special teams and ignoring this part of the team

Sure Seattle does it better but weren't they blessed with deals that gave them a ton of draft picks to build that depth?

Conte - Yes (still under contract)

Wright - No (Free Agent, will probably play with Lovie)

Steltz - Yes (Special Teamer...does more good than harm)

Bowman - Yes (Did not play bad as Tillman's replacement...will go back to special teams)

Remember when they chose to keep Steltz over Corey Graham.

They should bring back Bowman and I'm not opposed to Steltz coming back. Steltz is a solid special teams player, and Bowman provides some experience. They won't be able to correct every position, but at least they can have two veteran corner's (assuming Tillman leaves) with Jennings/Bowman.

Conte is under contract and doesn't cost much. I would hope that there is at least competition for him next season.

The safeties weren't great the season before, and this isn't to defend them, but they were awful when there was no pass rush. If the pass rush can be improved, perhaps the backend of the defense won't be as bad. That's not to say they can't improve both safety spots though.

I always thought Bowman was a decent player. I think he led the Bears in INT's about 3-4 years ago,but I'm too lazy to look it up. I always wondered why they couldn't try him at Safety. He looks like he could tackle and a little bigger than most.
