Cut by Seattle. You like him? I know he hasn't done much since leaving Minnesota. Actually not since Favre retired is probably more accurate. Perhaps with another strong armed QB he will excel. Does he fill the Bears' need for a speedster? I forgot if speed was the main attraction with him - he's been with Seattle for so long that I forgot what he's good at, besides getting injured.

It can't hurt to kick the tires. He's not a speed threat but he catches everything in site. Of course he usually gets hurt after that too.

No. He is a much worse version of the two receivers we already have. If we look at receivers, we need a quick slot guy.

I don't know about much worse version. It all depends on how much the injuries have taken from him. No one says you can't have 3 deep threats that you can throw jump balls to. He's only 27 too.

Given injuries does he really do anything special for the Bears?

I guess I should have said as well that the Bears need to have a burner that can catch the rainbows in stride. I imagine all the attention to Marshall and Jeffrey doing some silly routes and a third just running streaks/flys all the time.

If injured no. If healthy he's a potentially great option.

I would much rather they target a quick slot receiver if they are looking at any receivers at all. If Rice is cheap as hell, they can take a flyer on him, but it's not an area they need to upgrade and the money would be better spent elsewhere.

2 hip surgeries over 3 years, going to say a lack of speed exists and that is all we really need is speed. That 4/5th WR is going to need to be a Special teamer and thats where Syd isnt going to work

Agree with this. I would rather have another TE or a slot reciever on offense. Other than that I want them to focus completely on defense.

Agree as well, though I'd be interested if he came cheap and was disposable with minimal cap repercussions.

Hasn't Brandon Marshall also had 2 hip surgeries? He's too young not to get a shot with someone on a 1 year deal. The talent has always been there.

But we have Marshall and Marshall's hip surgeries were elective surgery, not season ending. Its his 9th year in the league out of a position, the bears just dont need at all.

Good player, normally would be yeling for the Bears to kick the tires, but this team doesnt need this guy at all.

If you want to cut Earl and play Sydney, assuming Sydney is semi healthy, fine, but it just isnt a concern for this team.

I would be OK with cutting Earl and finding a betting DT

Too many players with injury problems. Don't need him. WR not a huge need right now

The Bears have tons of holes on defense. WR is their best position overall. Why would you spend money on a poor man's injured version of the two elite receivers you already have? It's simply not a need.

Greed. And more toys for the Bears second best qb to play with. That being said, I don't think you add someone like rice unless unless you guarantee his inclusion doesn't mean you spend less money on fixing the d.

Well, I don't disagree with that, but I think that's impossible. They have a finite amount of cap space.

Rice is unlikely to cost any team more than the league minimum. The Bears should always look to improve their depth because injuries can happen fast. The offense was very fortunate last season.

Sort of like the fictional Harvey Unga player.

They sign him pretty much every year.

Let me go on record saying I liked Unga coming out of BYU. The guy was a beast! Great hands and could roll downhill when he got the ball.

Even while at BYU he has issues of staying in school, not sure what the deal was, but he had to go in the supplemental draft, for whatever reason and then with the bears the same shit. Always had to leave for one reason or another.

The guy is the all time BYU rusher and he left BYU for breaking his own honor code. he slept with his GF, the admitted it (OH KNOW!) and then he had to leave.

Looked it up...

1 - signed to a 4 year deal
2- he left the team twice for personal reasons
3- then the bears waived him, then they brought him back on practice squad, then released, then on the active roster...

the guy had to show some ability somewhere to bring a guy back basically 4 times....But, I am assuming he is nuts!

He'll fit in nicely taking Peanuts spot. Whether that's at CB or on the IR, that remains to be seen.

It is a really good FA class of WR and a very good draft for WR. They can do better than Rice.

Marquise Wilson is going to be a player in this league.
