I will post this here since this is the most active section on the board.

Forbes has posted the list of "The World's 50 Most valuable Sports Franchises"
http://www3.forbes.com/business/the-worlds-50-most-valuable-sports-teams-2015/52/

3 Chicago teams made the list in descending order they are:

14. Chicago Bulls Value: $2 billion 1-year change: +100%

The Bulls led the NBA in attendance during the 2014-15 season for the sixth straight year, averaging 21,343 fans per game at the United Center. Bulls’ owner Jerry Reinsdorf, who also owns MLB’s Chicago White Sox, owns half of the arena.

17. Chicago Cubs Value: $1.8 billion 1-year change: +50%

In February, MLB approved the sale of a minority interest in the Cubs (including the team’s equity in CSN Chicago, Wrigley Field, and nearby real estate that is going to be developed) to several investors for an aggregate of $150 million. The enterprise value placed on the team and Wrigley Field was $1.8 billion.

20. Chicago Bears Value: $1.7 billion 1-year change: +36%

The Bears have made the playoffs only once over the past 8 seasons. Ticket demand is still high despite the losing and fourth-highest ticket prices in the NFL.

4th highest priced tickets for a team that has won one championship in coming up on 50 years.

Cubs with the third highest and over 100 years without a title.

Makes me wonder how out of touch we are on the board with ticket prices. There are a lot of people where a basketball, bears or Hawks ticket is just out of reach.

Not that long ago when our kids were younger and the hawks were bad we took them $15 a seat in the 300s. Those same seats today can be over $100. Now since it's just the wife and me we go max 2x per year but we spend a bit more than $200 each and sit in the club level.

Tickets are priced based on what people will pay.

Some might say that Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, and Bulls tickets are underpriced based on what they go for on the secondary market.

I get how it works. I feel bad for the poor. Maybe RPB can champion minimum priced tickets for the poor?

It's not just the poor. I'd like to take my kids to a few Blackhawks games each year. They are fun times. I can't justify the price for the casual interest. I am probably shifting their attention away from a sport they might otherwise enjoy. Bulls are a little more affordable but not much. Football is easier for us because the ticket is subsidized by selling off much of the season.

This isn't about dolphin because he is rich as shit and can afford to go whenever he wants. But I get tired of the guy with a family of four whining that shit is too expensive. He can get away at a Sox game for 60 bucks. It will cost him more if he's a Cub fan, but bargains can be found. Those crybabies just don't want to sit in the upper deck in April to watch the Marlins. They want to cry poor because they want to sit behind the dugout in a July Cardinals series. Maybe he should sell one of his big screens or drive a compact instead of a giant truck that he doesn't need.

Bargains can be found for Cubs/Sox/Bulls/Bears.

I rarely see Hawks tickets under $100 for 300 level.

baseball is the most affordable sport and the most enjoyable to attend. There is nothing like being out there on a nice day. We go to at least five games every year. I find street parking, we buy reasonable tickets and I limit food to a couple of nachos and soda.

I really enjoy the whole ritual of going to a football game. I probably go to one per year but it is an event. However, college football supplements our football attendance. I can usually scare up a free group of ND tickets. We go to my dad's old college (D III or some other low level) for homecoming. We also usually get to a NU game.

Basketball isn't easy for us as so many games are weeknights and Sunday. We'll go to a Loyola game for cheap if we have the time.

Hockey is almost strictly limited to Wolves. They have lots of night for scouts or schools. We park for free in the Shoeless Joe's parking and don't eat because the food at Allstate is horrible.

I knew taking a contraversial anti poverty stance would come back to haunt me
