It's all going to be part of the (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky Legend, we do not yet have the benefit of hindsight.

His failure will make (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky's failure seem not as bad.

Seriously, this is at least some semblance of what a lot of people have always clamored for them to do: focus on the QB position.

Drafting a QB and signing a veteran so he doesn't have to start is a good move.

It would be nice if he wasn't really bad though.

I agree, but Glennon was the wrong move. Hoyer would probably have been the best guy for this.

I dont think it matters. Not a big commitment to Glennon.

Just a one year commitment. I'm basically meh on it. I do think it was too much money but with the way its structured, who cares.

Hoyer would have telegraphed their intention to pick a QB at 3 and caused teams to try more aggressively to trade with SF. Instead, teams figured that they were out of the picture and went after deals to move up to #5 instead.

The problem is he has shown that's he's capable of starting, but won't be given a fair chance to win the job until the season is already shot or there is an injury. Long-term it probably doesn't matter, but it would be nice to little have hope for this season. With Glennon there is none.

Nah, Hoyer wouldn't have worked. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky would already be getting g first team reps with Hoyer here.

Glennon has a substantial investment behind him, but not so overwhelming that they'll never give (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky his shot. The beauty of Glennon is he gives (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky his chance at earning the week one starting job without it being a charity.

The issue isn't focusing on the QB position but focusing on the QB position to the neglect of the many other positions of need the Bears currently have.

I also see no reason why Cutler couldn't have fit the same bill for cheaper. And the "Pace was playing 4-D chess to fool other teams in the draft" stuff is complete rubbish.

I think you're completely right ... but when I finally saw Glennon last week (only heard the last half of the first game on the radio), ... man, it's hard to not want him launched on a rocket ship into the sun.

Tank this year, fire John Fox, and hire Sean Payton when the Saints fire him. All part of Pace's master plan.

But would it be better to address those issues next year anyway? Seeing as this is a lost year?

Not a new one, but certainly as good a theory as any.

I'd love to see a situation where a guy like Payton comes in keeps Vic Fangio around though they might be snake bitten after the whole Bruce Arians thing...you can't force the guy on a HC.

Hoyer's stats just tossed aside by many. I guess stats just count when you are trying to win an argument. Hoyer played great for the Bears with a so-so line, and middling to poor WR except for Jeffries. The Bears should have resigned him at least and used the leftover money for some more FA offensive linemen.

Paying Glennon 18M guaranteed is insanity especially given they were bidding against themselves.

Stupid.

And the guy is terrible. A fucking turnover machine.
