I don’t think they have to worry about kicking in January.

That's true. They will steamroll the NFC and the kicking won't really matter in the ten-twelve point playoff victories.

February kicking is what Eddy needs to gear up for 8)

The kicking search is getting some national heat now:

I don't know. On one hand, I like that they are leaving no stone unturned with this. On the other, the "get a kicker and go" attitude might have some merit to it.

Regardless, kicking is a vital part of the game that can easily help or drastically hurt your chances of winning playoff games or playing golf in January.

Piniero, that soccer chick, some other free ajent, whoever the Bears have listed as PK will have my support come Sept 5.

“Nine guys is ridiculous!” says Mike Westhoff, a long-time special teams coordinator for the Jets and Saints. “It’s not that I wouldn’t look at nine guys—I would—but I wouldn’t look at nine guys in a pile. That makes it a sham.”

Adam Vinatieri, the Colts’ likely Hall of Fame kicker, is 46 and entering his 24th NFL season. He says the most competitors he ever faced in training camp was four, before his rookie season in New England. He reflects for a moment, then chuckles. “Nine guys? I don’t know... ”

Those aren't kickers in the process. Do you honestly think that the Bears are somehow groundbreakers in finding a kicker? Or is it more paralysis by overanalysis?

If you look at 5 guys at once or 9 guys, does it really change the evaluation process? They ultimately settled on 2 guys for camp.

Well, given Pace's track record with kickers, I hope he gets it right this time.

He’ll be nailing 58 yarders for them in next year’s preseason and then they’ll trade him to the Bears for a 5th rounder.

More likely they'll convert him into a punter and the Vikings will trade their first-round pick for him in 2020. Because the Vikings plan on doing a lot of punting.
