Offensive line.

It begins and ends there. Even the best quarterbacks in the world need time to throw. The best running backs in the world need a hole to run through. The Bears haven't had that much at all this season. Fix the offensive line, fix the offense. Its that simple.

Stopping the incredibly stupid penalties on special teams and on the offense of line would help too. Charles Leno Jr, I'm looking at you.
Kruetz was on just a few minutes ago with Screamy & Haugh. Said there is a reason when Gruden signed guys like Incognito and Burfect...then gave him the 'C' on his jersey. Because he wants to send a message that this is the smash mouth, old school, hard nosed team the Raiders are going to be. And the Bears are missing that on the Oline right now...which is more or less calling them soft.

So yeah. Fix the OLine, fix the offense.

Colts did a fantastic job of fixing their OL problems and reimagining the entire offensive character of their team. It only seemed to take them a year or so.

Long is done. I think it caught up on the Bears more quickly than they thought. The interior of the OL that was a strength, is not any longer. OT have always been average to bad. Leno is a perfect example. He maxes out at average and you think you can live with him. This season his play has dropped and he has been awful.

Still, these guys are pretty good at pass blocking. They kept the pocket clean against two pretty good pass rushing teams in the Vikings and Broncos.

Both of those guys should be banned from football. Incognito deliberately tries to disable people as does Burfect. And it was right in front of those officials and they only called Incognito once for it. He was cutting guys the entire game.

Burfect actually is suspended for the rest of the season ("banned"), and you completely missed the point of my post and Kruetz's comments.

Good work.

The O-line is bad. Really really bad. So we agree on this 100%

Montgomery is a hard runner.

Daniels played at Iowa. He should know how to run block. Whitehair/Long are better than the tackles.

Should be able to have basic 4-6 yard run plays to set up 2nd and manageable

Not when they continue to try to run out of shotgun. Nagy us a stubborn MFer.

There is absolutely no reason the Bears cannot do what the 49ers do offensively. We dont have the offensive line they have so it wont be as effective, but it also doesn't need to be as effective. Nagy please be watching this game.

You're going to need a top 5 TE too.

Robinson playing at this level can approximate or even exceed his contributions in the passing game.

Some easy solutions I could see making a big difference:

-Bench Leno. The penalties are drive-killers. He's fine in pass protection but this team cant pass the ball so what purpose is that really serving?
-More under center. Let the ball carriers get a head of steam before they hit the hole
-Involve the WR in the running game more

But not in the blocking game.

No of course not but Kittle is basically the 49ers only receiving option the same way Robinson is basically the Bears only receiving option.

You'll see how the 49ers dont waste downs taking a big shot downfield with their QB who they know cant throw. They also dont go backwards a lot with shitty penalties or sacks. They aren't running to set up the playaction because they know too much goes wrong on playaction.

The Bears meanwhile will all the time find themselves in 3rd and 14 which is just a hopeless situation.

I was hopeful but that pick is embarrassing. I don't even want to look and see what better options could have been taken.

Eh it's not too bad. Smith-Schuster and Kamara weren't taken til well after.

Its like when people dump on the Floyd pick and then you show them the 2016 first round.

Kept hearing all summer from Bears beat writers about Long being healthy and that he had lost 25 pounds, was in the best shape in years. The O line didn't need pre season games because they were a veteran group, so they didn't see that Long is done and that Daniels would struggle with line calls at center, and that Leno apparently had lost the ability/desire to move his feet. Nagy and Pace have created a country club atmosphere and the team plays that way. Nagy really thought he had outsmarted the league, but the league has figured out how to attack his offense and it seems that he doesn't have a veteran offensive mind he trusts to help him figure out how to adjust.

You may be correct on all counts but I am not ready to give up on them yet. I think that Nagy has no choice now but to turn (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky lose and let him used his athletic ability to move the offense. It is the only choice that he has. I don't know if a trade is possible at this time but they really have to replace Leno as a minimum. He is a bum and almost single handedly can stop their offense.
