I have it on VHS.

I just realized I was younger when I watched this live than all my kids are now.

It's just dawned on me that that's true for me as well. And it's not really close

That VHS tape also had McMahon's Letterman appearance.

And it had what I think was Jordan's first Letterman appearance also where he showed off the original Air Jordan black and reds. Letterman asked him why the NBA banned him from wearing them and Jordan replied "because they don't have any white in them" and Letterman replied "well, neither does the NBA" and Jordan cracked up like he was watching Gary Payton on an iPad.

I have the VHS tape as well. My Uncle was taping it for my Dad.

But then a few years ago, the NFL offered the DVD of it. Bought that.

The one thing I do recall was that I was upset that NE beat Miami so we couldn't get revenge for that 1 loss.

I never at any point felt like the Bears would lose that game, before it started or certainly at any point after it started.

Yep. If people don't know, NE was a wild card team, and went on the road to beat Miami in the AFC title game.

Now, while I would have liked the revenge against the Dolphins. Still happy we got New England.

Cuz it was fucking Marino. Young and in his prime. We would have been the favorite against them, obviously, but they might have pulled off the upset. Because, like I said, it was Marino and he was awesome. And already beat us.

Patriots had no shot and everybody knew that going into the game.

Tony Eason or Dan Marino?

I'll take Tony Eason.

Marino wasn't beating them a second time; Bears were a little too cocky and Ryan refused to alter the defense.

You're probably right. I'm just glad we didn't have to find out. We'll never know. And we have our Super Bowl win.

My most vivid memory is from the NFL films SB XX thing. The phrase “ominous overtones filled the air,” was uttered right after the first minute of highlights with the Pats going up 3-0. Then the rest of the documentary was just carnage.

I remember that video too. Then they showed the scoreboard, and the horrified and sad look on each Patriots after each time they showed the lead go up. It was funny and awesome.

Do guys know what the line was on that game?

Bears were only 10 point favorites. 10 points? Are you fucking kidding me? Should have been at least 16. Vegas fucked up and set that line wrong.

My Dad jumped on it. He said it was the biggest bet of his life to that point. $500. He called his bookie on a pay phone from New Orleans.

Agreed that there was never a feeling they would lose. The Super Bowl was inevitable from about mid season on. The game was more coronation than contest.

I was still pretty young back then. I remember my parents getting bagels, meats and cheeses from the deli for sandwiches. My mom made chili. I watched with my parents, siblings and grandma. It was a good time. I would have liked to go to the parade but looking back, that was no place for a kid on a freezing day. Everyone else in the neighborhood always got to take days off to go to parades during the year but my parents never indulged that stuff. The St. Patrick's Day parade used to actually be on St. Patrick's Day and all the Irish kids would take off to attend when it fell on a weekday.

It's really too bad Payton fumbled early, because if he didn't the Bears would have shut out the Pats as well.

Even then, we will never see another playoff team allow a grand total of only ten points thru three postseason games on their way to winning a Super Bowl.

Not likely with these rules.

My youngest just passed the age I was. Which means I’m older than my Dad was. Which, I think, means I’m old.

8) 8) 8)

My youngest was born in 85. We've got a picture of him with a headband on that says McMahon. He was almost two at the time.

The Bear defense alone outscored the Giants, Rams and Pats by a score of 16-10.

Do you have the capability to watch a VHS? I still have a VHS of game 7 of the 1982 World Series but don't have the means to watch it.

Unroll it and look at it through the light.

It was a precursor to the greatness exhibited in 2005.
