Always see the articles about how a certain team is supposedly "interested" in a certain player at the start of free agency, these are all likely agent generated stories put out there to gin up interest in the player, but have always wondered what is in this for the writer of the article?

Do they put the stories out there at the behest of the agent in order to receive access to the players?

Do they put the stories out there to show solidarity with the players so that other players will talk to them?

Do the agents slide a few dollars to them to make it happen?

Do the teams put the stories out there to distract other teams by creating a false interested in one players to take the heat off the guy they really want?

Do writers just need content, so they make up false interest stories for clickbait?

It just seems like an odd relationship because almost all of the stories end up being completely false.

The only big thing I remember about the Bears was Peppers. Lovie and whomever sat on his front door at midnight the start of FA day. They weren’t leaving without his signature.
