"A couple things," Williams said Wednesday at Halas Hall when asked about Fields' growth. "Leadership. Because that’s what you want in your quarterback. I see good decision-making. That’s what you want in your quarterback. I see improved accuracy. That’s what you want in your quarterback. And how fast he’s processing. That’s also the, in my mind, what you want in your quarterback. So from Day 1 last year to right now? From my standpoint, and I’m not a quarterback guru whatsoever, but I see how he has grown from last year to this year, and practice by practice by practice, he’s growing. So you have to be encouraged when you see those things."

He should shut up and worry about his awful defense

I see, so he was asked by the media at the presser.... "Alan, when you look across the field to the other side of football because you study qb's and how to defeat them, what stands out differently about justin its early?"

His response should have been "I'm only focused on the defense"?

You really can skip these press things because you hear the exact same answers in every city that has a young QB.

Fields will get a chance to show early if he's learned to read defenses because I'd expect teams to load up against the run and force him to show that he can read what the D is doing, find the best read, and then be much more accurate with his short and medium throws.

Missing easy short check downs on early downs will kill a drive and he had plenty of those drive killing misses last year.

They ran the ball well last year with a suspect line, but if they can just generate the threat of a passing game the offense could be interesting, and it will have to stay on the field to protect what will be at best a bottom ten defense.

Yep, same thing every year with (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, Grossman, etc. Even stiffs like Mike Glennon.

I saw a tweet that Dante Pettis lead the team in third down targets last year resulting in 2 first downs.

That sounds like a QB problem.

Jaylon Johnson is doing charity work and spending valuable time with his daughter. A daughter he doesn't get to see much of during the season.

It usually goes that anything positive said in the off and preseason is indicative of good to great things to come . Anything negative and its “ omg its practice !! This is when theyre supposed to be figuring things out and working on getting the kinks out !! Its expected it wont be good for awhile !! “

Justin Fields is processing quicker without angry men trying to take his head off.

He's been present in every virtual component of these OTAs.

"Mental Reps" are the football equivalent of the towel drill.

If the Packers can have a gay quarterback, the Bears can have a trans wide receiver!

I can't say with full confidence that the Bears don't have a gay quarterback.

I'm guessing he's bi. He's a dual threat off AND on the field.

Well we know he is the catcher, because he won't throw.
