So he names the 4 most mentioned coaches so far and that others could be interviewed, and this is news? I didn't realize he was doing stuff anymore yet he has better sources than every Chicago media member? If he has more than 1 source, he would be beating all of them.

Edit: Brady has been mentioned, but not as much as the others.

It’s another brick in the Brian Flores house.

Book it.

If it's Flores then USA is going to go ballistic, and he might have a point this time.

Right so firing the white incompetant OC and replacing him/them with the black competant OC is bad. Maybe they should rehire waldron and eberflus then to reverse DEI. Fucking retarded pretend lawyer.

What is his issue with Flores?

I think USA will have a problem with anyone they hire at this point.

I imagine his issue would be that hiring Flores over the guy who has turned the Lions into one of the most feared offenses in the NFL and the former HC who has actually lead his teams to the playoffs is a blatant DEI move by George and Kevin Warren, and it'd be really hard to argue with him about it. Of course fretting over not hiring Ben Johnson would kind of undo his logic about hating Caleb Williams and his prospects as an NFL talent, but I'm sure he could manage his way through that sticky wicket.

Flores was also a bit of a malcontent Caller Bob when he had a head job.

He openly antagonized his young QB, which seems like something you wouldn’t want to risk unless you’re a Fields cultist and/or hate Williams.

I am on record as wanting Ben Johnson, but I think it is pretty likely he wants nothing to do with the Bears. So then you have no argument. They cannot hire a guy that does not want to come. Flores to me is an intriguing option. I would much rather go with him than have someone like Kingsbury.

I mean the DEI alone  Brian Flores would be peak Bears. But in terms of getting a guy desperate enough to take any job who has a modicum of success elsewhere he’s probably as good as you’re going to get. The only way you see a quality candidate is if you give him the type of authority Bill Belichick enjoyed, or at least something like Kyle Shanahan has now.

That’s the real problem with it. It would just be a sign that they haven’t changed at all organizationally and are just looking for another weirdo yes-man who will take the fall when it all goes to shit.

And yeah of course he’s the pick for Tanesha Wade right, the guy who went full hotep on the league of course lands on the Bears.

The problem with Ben Johnson is that Cincinnati is probably going to fire their staff and its gonna be awfully difficult to convince BJ to pass up working with JB who has taken a pretty mediocre team with pretty mediocre coach to two AFC Championships (& won one of them).

Is Mike Brown really going to launch Taylor and pay for a very expensive Johnson?

Do we know Ben Johnson will be expensive? If I’m Ben Johnson I look at playing another eight or so years with Joe Burrow collecting a head coach salary as a pretty safe bet. Might even get a Super Bowl ring in there. Then Joe Burrow hangs them up, you get to pick the new guy and no matter how that goes good or bad you will be a hot commodity coaching hire in a decade’s time.

Or you go to Chicago, oversee a complete shitshow trainwreck, have your name tarnished and go running with your tail between your legs back to Daddy Dan Campbell (just like Matt Nagy had to). Yeah you made head coach salary for two or three years but you’re radioactive now.

Yeah I’d take less yearly to work with the Bengals. Makes the most sense. Besides I don’t get the impression Ben Johnson will enjoy being chided by Tanesha Wade in the interview room for not taking his diversity statement seriously enough.

No, the defensive staff will be launched.

Don't pass on Mike McCarthy or Pete Carroll. They are proven winners. Ben Johnson is another question mark.

The Bears weren't kidding. They're interviewing everyone. Glazer just reported on the Fox postgame show Eddie George is next on the list.

Thought that was a joke, but it’s apparently true. God, these people are clueless.

I don't see why everyone is getting themselves all worked up over interviews with interesting secondary candidates before the primary ones are available.

Johnson and Monken become available today.

Brady, who probably had the best weekend of the bunch, still is working.

Brady has a fullback quarterback. Josh Allen is the ultimate bailout.

We know nothing about his coordinating skills let alone his HCing skills

Monken likely comes in and at least gives you an identity on offense, but he will not bring the Ravens player personnel department with him, so you would see a bunch of marginal NFL offensive players trying to execute his offense. He also has to rebuild a terrible defense.

Ben Johnson cannot bring Gibbs and the Lions offensive line with him, so again you get marginal NFL players and rookies trying to execute his offense, and will face the same problem rebuilding the defense.

McCarthy makes sense as he could get you to basic competence.
